I have a dark 3 piece suit and it looks good when I wear a blue shirt (about the same shade as the forums colours - a bit lighter than the darkest blue) along with a red tie, much like the red in the overclockers logo top left. I think it looks good and have worn it to business events before but most of my friends opt for white shirts with light coloured ties (eg silver) so it got me wondering if my attire could be improved.

Any opinions on this? My fashion sense sucks!

A silver tie? No.

A bold red on a blue shirt can and does work but you have to carry it well. What do you mean a 'dark 3 piece suit'?

somewhere between black and charcoal grey, with very faint pinstripes.

So you have one suit, one shirt and one tie?

Just get some white shirts and a few ties.

I have 1 suit (Im a student...) but a few shirts and a couple of ties.

Looks like a white shirt might be a safer option, I just prefer my blue shirt/red tie combo but it might not be the best business attire...:confused:

I don't think anybody cares that much to tell you the truth, you're in a suit which is perfectly fine.

according to radio2 a recent study showed 'navy blue' to be the colour to where, it sets you aside from the standard dark rack suit...

so yeah go with that and a light blue shirt, bold red tie might be a bit to much though, nothing wrong with a black tie if you have black shoes, or a cream coloured one

I like a very pale blue shirt and a bolder tie but you need to be able to carry it well.
Don't wear the waistcoat.

I'd actually go the opposite and go something a little more interesting that shows your personality.

If the blue shirt and red tie goes with the dark suit, which I have to admit I'm sceptical about having not seen it (entirely depends on shade of suit), then go for it as it shows some of your personality.

Companies don't want clones, they want individuals with determination, ambition, commitment, intellect and enthusiasm from a host of different backgrounds. It's about diversity. Let your suit say something about you (not overly zany like a rainbow suit of anything though) and it might just be the thing that makes you stand out in comparison to all the other numpty's who go in there in a grey suit with a white shirt and red tie.

EDIT:

Wholeheartedly agree with this.

To where though? :p

White Shirt every time, dark blue/charcoal suit every time, black socks every time with dark suit.

Other simple rules:

Suits=wool
Shirtscotton
Ties=silk

They don't have to designer or prcey but natural fibres will be better every time.
