2011 Mustang V6

its an ECO-Boost engine that can still deliver 35MPG yet churns out over 300 horses and can power to 60mph in circa 5.5s.

People in the UK dont care.

Is it a 4 cylinder diesel? No? Not interested.

This is why BMW have been forced to remove the 330i Saloon from sale. Here is a car which did 40mpg combined, had 272bhp and did 0-60 in 6.0 seconds. It even had lower company car tax than a 330d.

But its gone, because it isn't a crap 4 cylinder diesel, so nobody in this country gives a stuff. They didn't even bother to test drive it, just like they wouldnt bother with a Taurus Ecoboost unless it had a crap 2 litre diesel in it.

All most people want is maximum flash with minimum engine.

This is very true, its why Audi TT was such a hit. All people seem interested in is looks and it been a small weedy engine. Oh well, at least purist like ourselves keep the manufacturers churning out the more interesting stuff from time to time.

Correction their when the S197 was released it out handled in the Cobra IRS Mustangs in test simply because the S197 chassis was so much superior to the outgoing SN95 Mustangs and was proof a decent live axle setup is superior to a poor-average IRS setup which the Cobra Mustangs was.

I wasn't saying otherwise. The S-197 was a fair old leap forward from the 'Fox' platform Mustangs (of which the SN-95 Cobra R was the ultimate iteration). And Ford have said that adding IRS to the 5th gen 'stang would add more than a few pennies onto the list price for the best part of **** all benefit.

Fox - why oh why FoMoCo doesn't bring the Falcon over to other parts of the world is a mystery to me. It's one of the better cars that they build worldwide.

I'm confused as to even how it makes sense to build a unique range of cars just for one area of the world where, what, just over 25 million people live?

We are lucky if we get UK special editions with 3 times as many population!

Talking of Ford Taurus's, I had a quick google of the 2010 Taurus. What a good looking car. One of only three fords that I wouldnt be embarassed to drive.

Has anyone got a pic of its behind? I can only see side on and frontal shots.

Quick question, How old do you have to be to hire a Mustang in USA? Will be 24 in August.

You can hire one at 21 if you're willing to pay for it.

Generally 25 is the age where you don't have to pay an extra daily rate. For the Dodge Charger I rented over Christmas is would have cost an extr $25 per day for my 23 year old friend to drive it.

Is there some sort of 'local' tax benefit which has caused Ford Aus to produce domestic models over importing US models ?

Maybe it has something to do with the Difference's in emission laws , import tariffs and being a different hand drive compared to America?

There are import tariffs on foreign cars yes but the main reason is the fact the Australians drive on the correct side of the road, just like us :D

Interestingly there are some interesting cars in Australia which people in the UK probably dont know exist - such as right hand drive Corvettes and F150 pickups..

I've just been having a look on the Ford Aus website, and if holden can send over some monaro's, then they can sure as hell send over the falcon g6e turbo. In fact, send the entire falcon range over!
