So I've been looking at a few cards to replace my dying 8800GT, getting withdrawal symptons from not being able to play games so want a new car asap. Budget is around £100, someone recommended to buy the likes of a second hand GTS 460, but I rather not go through the second hand route, so I've narrowed it down to the following cards:

- ATI 5750 - Costs around £90
- ATI 5770 - Costs around £100 and is better then the 5750 for not much more.
- ATI 5850 - Around £150, really don't want to spend that amount of money.

- GTS 450 - Costs around £85, this seems to be ideal.
- GTS 460 - Same as the 5850

So yeh would the 450 be a good economical buy? a 460 costs whats around £50 more and is probably double the performance, but £50 is a fair amount of money for me, so I'm thinking the 450, is Palit a good oem?

Cheers

^ but its used which I dont want and a new card isnt much more. How much better is the 5770? Don't think it's that much better, now thinking of just going for the 460, seen an evga model for £125, but my concern is that these nvidia cards will cause problems like the 8800GT has, i'll spend a lot of money and end up not getting much service out it.

Treat this as a guide, try some other benchies before you make a firm decision.

Apart from the fact you havent said what res you game at and what probs the 8800GT caused you the GTX 460 is a sensible purchase !

Thanks for that link.

I game at 1024x1280 at the moment, have a crappy old 17" monitor but hope to upgrade in the near future to 22-24" monitor and maybe game at 1080p. basic PC specs are Q6600, 4GB ram, tx650 psu.

I'm now looking at two 460 models, which one would be best in terms of cooling and quality of construction?

MSI GeForce GTX 460 Cyclone 1024MB - £135

or

1GB EVGA NVIDIA GTX 460 SE - £125
