I Met God on a Train

was a bit meh... poor wee dolphins :( God don't like em does he

A lot of it uhh "God" used some generic verbal gymnastics to waffle/gloss over things when a more thoughtful answer would have been better (more fitting). General Tone of story (not conversation) was of a prepubescent (not literally speaking), age 20 something budding writer.

Too much flim flam old boy!

Didnt like that if you adapt and co-operate then you are doomed. But if you manipulate control and abuse then you are destined for the stars woot! YAY! :D

Also....that technology is the answer to the world's problems,

When you've mastered the relevant technology, it will eliminate material inequalities and poverty within a generation or two

Problem is - creating an equal global society has nothing to do with technological prowess (pretty obvious). Unless of course one wants to avoid ethical situations that are created by lack of necessities to some regions by introducing a technological magical wand that makes all the bad stuff go away hahahaha.....

Writer is a bit up himself if you ask me....only my opinion tho :p

Interesting read, but to be fair it's all pretty obvious isn't it? Unless you're very closeminded, most of what the god character states is very logical.

That said, he didn't actually speak to God, at least not in the strictest sense.

I'm sure I first read this back in 2007. It's true: all roads do lead to Rome.

Tis a good read though as it's stuck in my mind since.

The person on the train was me BTW...........

........:D

Great read, thank you OP!.

BTW, wouldn't spacecraft be far more a significant step up for civilisation than mere aeroplanes?!?!

Pretty interesting stuff, and well written.

But it does read a bit like a teenage armchair philosopher trying to 'do' science. I'm not sure why the flying machine is seen as the ultimate benchmark of a civilisation's advance. And I'm also not sure about our scientists having 'largely understood' the laws of physics and chemistry: I don't really see an end to our discoveries there and every few decades someone will come along and overthrow the current paradigm.
