Bristol Cars has gone into administration

Mainly because they weren't very good (and were the price of a semi to boot).

I thought it had as much to do with the elitest attitudes that they took towards some buyers or was that just a rumour? The lack of publicity and places to buy them certainly can't have helped too much either. However it's a shame to see another British car manufacturer failing.

I know nothing about this company.

Sums up why they're in administration really. Very few firms can survive without adaptation in the marketplace. Sometimes your principles of tradition have to take a back seat to keeping up with the times!

:(

Apparently most of their sales came from repeat custom from a select few. Perhaps that select few have started to die off or something.

'Tis a real shame though :(

I know nothing about this company. Why was it difficult to buy their cars?

They were selling less than 20 cars a year and all you had to do was pop into the Kensington showroom to order one.

Cost and design has been their downfall. They've never moved with the times. There is no market for them apart from the odd rock star or stinking rich car collector.

I'm not sure why everyone is bemoaning the downfall of British car companies. Almost all British car companies made rubbish - only a few made decent cars.

And, oddly enough, the few that made genuinelly good cars are still going (Whether owned by a foreign parent company or not).

They wouldnt publish information, they wouldnt allow road tests by magazines, etc etc.

I seem to remember it being a case of if your face doesnt fit, the door is that way, sir.

They did allow road tests in later years.

They were quirky, still a shame to see them go up in the air after all this time though.

Very odd cars though, plenty of money too.

I used to live in Matheson road round the corner from the Kensington showroom maybe 25 odd years ago. The cars looked menacing & the price tags were unreal.
I know nothing about them but have always wanted to drive a Beaufighter (Scuse the very dodgey spelling :o)

has there ever been a fighter T built? or is it all pie in the sky 1000bhp dreaming?

For me it's because it is rarely nice to hear of people losing their jobs and irrespective of whether the cars are great or not they were something a bit different so losing that isn't something I'd see as anything other than a pity.
