A notification light? Lol. :)

...yes for texts, emails, missed calls etc etc...would be pretty useful i think. My Blackberry has one and its a godsend..i can tell by the colour of the led notification light what it is ie if its an email, text, bbm or missed call.

I think he meant just that, it's a Blackberry thing rather than an iPhone thing.

There won't be a physical keyboard, that just totally goes against what the iPhone was designed for.

Also saying it's not a business phone is silly.

The reason so many business people use Blackberries is because they are given them by work. They are also certainly cheaper than iPhones to buy in bulk than getting an iPhone for everyone in your company.

There is also this notion that's been built up that Blackberries are 'business phones' so people just buy them because of that. Blackberry seems to be busy trying to market themselves as not a business phone if their recent commercials are anything to go by; they want the same market buying the iPhone to buy them.

You can do everything you need to on an iPhone, I do as do many others. If you don't like not having a physical keyboard then you can of course use something else like a Blackberry.

Looks like the 4" screen rumour is gaining ground - http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20037309-1.html

I think this is about right, the source for this was a chinese company who were the first to pop out photos of the iphone 4 so i reckon this is on the cards.
As for a lower spec phone look at where we are with the current range.
When the 3G came out the 2G was the lower phone.
When the 3GS came along the 3G dropped down.
When the 4 popped up the 3Gs can be bought on contract for next to nothing, so theres no point in a new phone take take what will be the 4's place when the 4s/5 or whatever they are selling it as comes along.
As for physical keyboards? no way Jobs as someone stated isnt a buttons man!.

I would like something that has more open options such as Andrioid 2.3 has and also a bigger screen and res to go with it.

OLED Screens aswell

Would like it to be made in such a way that the LCD and Digitizer are seperate as such in the 3g / 3gs phones, the Iphone 4 are combined so its a very pricy fix ...

I was considering getting the Iphone 4 but I knew apple could do even greater things with their design in their next installment.

On the basis they like to take evolutionary steps, here are a few things I think they will do:

1) Improve the already fantastic 5mp camera to 8mp
2)Keep the Retina display at the same/similar resolution but make the screen at 4 inches (while keeping the size of the device similar to iphone 4)
3)Dual core A5 graphics chip like the Ipad 2
4) Include a new host of software tweaks to enable the user to do more things (my imagination fails me- app store access on the web?)

Overall, the device could be similar in hardware spec to the high end android devices and overlooking a few possible niggles, should be a popular device.

I think it will basically be dual core and everything updated slightly. The main thing will be a massive ios update and wouldn't be surprised at a new case/look.

I think the 4-inch screen will make it in. An easy way to make the device more visually impressive. Beyond that, it will basically be an iPad 2 in a smaller box - dual-core A5 CPU, same GPU as the iPad, probably the same 512MB RAM.

As far as iOS 5 goes, as long as it includes a better notification system, I'll be satisfied!

How much do you think they will change in iOS5, seem to be getting real pressure to do more on the iPad, now we can see what Honeycomb can do, can they bring mich more to a new iPhone?

I like the idea of the metal back for durability, but didn't the original metal back suffer from poor WiFi performance?

According to the article, all antennas (WiFi, cell, Bluetooth etc.) will be contained in the Apple logo to eliminate signal issues.

Tbh it's so slow you never really notice :D My original iphone actually had better wifi performance than my friends iphone 4 in some conditions, but yeah overall I think they dropped the aluminium back for these reasons.

Perhaps it'll be carbon fibre :D ;)

I'm completely happy with my 3GS and expect the 5 to have the usual incremental hardware upgrades to the 4. My main desire is for iOS 5 to feel like a really fresh, big update with a lot of new features/visuals e.t.c.

The 4" screen might seal the deal for me if true. Anyone think it will have hdmi out like with the ipad 2?

I hope is does have a 4" screen, I'd be disspointed if it doesn't, and will probably be tempted to look elseware.
