Hi guys

Have been searching the web and phoning a few places and am having no luck. Am looking to hire a heavy duty winch in northern Ireland.

It will need to be able to winch around 2 tons. But having any idea's were to hire one. Anyone In N.Ireland have any ideas?

You could use a block and tackle or a couple of ratchet straps, depending on how far you need to move it. Someone with a tilt and slide recovery lorry would be able to move it also.

Is it a rolling load or a dead load?

Recovery lorry wont move it. Its for helping taking down really large trees. Trees are over 25m high. And have buildings close so have to be a controlled fall. Thus needing a winch to help me top them. And have a controlled fall. As steel rop with mini digger isnt good enough. :)

I've used a couple of webbing straps and a series of notched cuts to drop trees near power lines, just means that you are close to it when each bit goes down. If the wind is going the right direction it helps.

A tree surgeon would be another suggestion, but i think it would cost a fair bit.

might be worth contacting a local building contractor as they may have had need to use a similar service before and might be able to advise you
