As per the title - I want to re-install Windows 7 on one machine but I don't know which DVD (and therefore key) to use.

The key will be on a sticker if you purchased a genuine Windows. Look for the sticker that tells you what version / licence key.

I know this - but I have two DVDs and two machines, and I don't know which DVD was used to install on which machine

Under System Properties, you have a Windows Product Key - I think the DVDs also have this, so it will correspond to one of your disks.

It doesn't matter what disk you use. You can use the same retail disk to reinstall 100's of machines, as long as you use each computers unique serial key.

Thanks all - sorted. magic jellybean told me which DVD belongs to which machine. I have now put a sticky on each DVD.
