Official punching dudes in the face Fight Night: Champion Thread

I love the new controls, I actually think they're much more accurate than in previous games, as I can now easily throw the punch I want to throw.

My main gripe so far is the referee. I hate how he gets in the way of the action and I sometimes can't see what's going on because he's in my way. They should've made him see through when he stands in front of you, as he's so distracting, it's really really annoying.

Beyond that I'm not finding too much to moan about. I've not finished the Champion mode yet as I've been messing around in the other areas of the game, but I've really enjoyed everything I've seen so far. Definitely the best Fight Night on the current gen consoles as far as I'm concerned.
 
Davey change the camera setting to 'close', thatl get rid of the referee and you get to see more of the boxers facial expressions :) I haven't tried online yet, but can you invite friends to play? If so anyone want to play me?
 
Love this game. I have issues when ever I stun anyone and them just turtleing with their block. Any tips for getting them down? Seriously against the NPC I can stun about 3 times a round but never knock them down, they either clinch me which I can't get out of or I can't knock them down.

If they clinch tap the left bumper a few times to get them off whilst still stunned. Otherwise don't swing randomly, get in close and then start swinging.

Got the game today, great fun, played about an hour of championship mode and thoroughly impressed. I like the new stick controls even more so than the FN4 ones, although have to admit to do jab, jab, straight or something similar I tend to quickly use the buttons then revert back to the stick.

Annoyed they got rid of the corner mini game though, although I suppose a lot of people were healing themselves ridiculous amounts despite boxing like a numpty lol
 
just been messing around doing fight now mode.

Just had an epic fight with calzaghe vs hopkins. This game is way more tactical than FNR4. On the last one ou can just throw pucnhes like an idiot, this version you have to pick your openings and then explout them, feels more tactical and life like,

Went the whole way with hopkins him knocking me down twice and me knocking him down twice. i was 4-1 down at the halfway point and then just went tactical until the 8th and then blitzed him

Yes a bit strange to get used to at first.
Try the 3rd fight on champion mode, anoyed the hell the hell out of me, keeping running away!

I think the way they have done the story mode is fantastic, however, as above some of the fights and the requirements are a bit.....cheap?

I'm on the 4th or 5th fight and your supposed to stay away from your opponents left hook. Fair enough except his left hook floors you if it hits cleanly once which imo is just cheating, especially when I hit him with 10 clean power hooks and he doesnt go down.

Apart from that think it is definately a much better tactically skilled game.

That fight was silly. Every left hook is a flash KO. Just body punch him and you will knock him out in the 3rd as he has a weak chin.

You think that's hard wait until the last match. That guy is in an animal. Flash knock out every punch!!

just played the demo , really good but i think i will wait for the price to drop ,seen as ive not played this type of game before i might get bored of it quick
 
^^I was gettin a bit bored of this but the story mode keeps it imore nteresting than usual career mode in boxing games

anyone got any tips on getting counter punches ?
I've never been good in any of the fight night games at counter punching! I think it's just my reactions aren't good enough, but any tips would be good!
 
Wow, the story mode is great.

One thing please - when doing the heavy bag whats the blue box mean when a command flashes up?
 
anyone got some tips for getting a knockout ? , ive only got the demo but im finding it hard to get any kind of knockdown punch!

i dont really understand how the power button works,do you have to hold it down for or just a quick press then a punch?

throw your punch whilst keeping the power button down.

im loving this game, as already said its not a button basher. you can actually box properly and plan your attack - very fun!
