Company Car choice.

I would like to have a look at an insight...

64MPG is a nice idea... I'm used to 20 :S

Plus that ES model is a decent spec...

But the main plus... the interior looks GORGEOUS

I know it's only a silly little thing... but that tacho/rev couter ensemble is quite pretty hehe and the seats/steering wheel look quite nice...

Also... the petrol/electric intrigues me... more torque than both the other cars which is delivered from 1000RPM upwards... could be interesting to drive...

I'd go for the Honda personally. It's an auto, which is nice and has a decent level of spec, and it's different too. Would the astra be new or old shape?

If I was offered a Fiesta for £45/m I'd take it, an Astra? I'd bite their arm off. I think most people would take most brand new cars for £45/m.

I mean, even when you talk about people who enjoy a "drivers car", for £45/m a second run-around because a feasible proposition for just about anyone - something that usually isn't the case for most people. A second car opens a lot of real drivers car choices for a lot of people.

On the Astra note, it had slipped my mind that I've actually had one of these SRIs as a courtesy car for a short amount of time;

It was actually quite good. I genuinely LOL'd when I saw this Astra with 19" wheels, and was instantly expecting a crash-tastic ride, which wasn't quite the case - it was by no means luxurious, but it absorbed the bumps in our crap roads very well, despite the 35 profile tyres, it wasn't significantly worse than the Focus with 16" wheels, either. I still didn't like it compared to my Focus mind, but the Astra makes up in the slightly worse, less dynamic drive by looking fantastic for a generic hatchback.

I'd take it for £45 per month even if it was the Van!

Its a total win win for the OP as I see it.

I was trying to get onto Stobarts old "Driver support" for the same reason, £45odd per month tax, use of a brand new company van (social & business) and afaik the company paid fuel also!

Unfortunately, they decided using agency staff was more cost effective, so that & the fleet of Astra vans has gone.

I Missed the boat. :(

There's still the 'if' of just turning the company car down and keeping his tax on it.

So any business mileage he has to do he foots the bill himself does he? Not just fuel but wear and tear on his car. I think the OP's post was quite clear given the word, "must".

45 a month buys a nice skateboard or bike, all depends what you are into :p
If he really loves the car he has it makes more sense otherwise a new car for that little is hard to argue with

The are providing the £45 car to do a job, I doubt very much he could do the same job on a bike or skateboard, no matter how expensive it was.

Infact I'd be supprised if turning the car down saved him any money when you consider he will have to use his own car, with his own fuel.
