Hi,I have a ATI R5850 installed atm In the 16x slot, If I was to buy another for crossfire which overclockers says it supports will I have any problems with micro stuttering or any other problems coming from the x4 port and not just crossfire woe's ?

Thanks.

When you crossfire two different PCI-e speeds, both slots downclock to the lowest. So both will run at x4. I know that you can lose a couple of FPS from running in x4 compared to x8 and x16.

There is a couple of benchmarks around

Good to see It will run In some shape or form I'll scout around the internet now for the x4 benchmarks now.

That's not correct. Both PCI-e slots operate with all available bandwidth when running in Crossfire mode. (you can check this by running a DX9 game in windowed mode - these can't use the second card even with crossfire enabled - with xfire on and off. frame rates should be exactly the same).

As for performance, mostly it's not a big deal. Running 16x/4x is only a little slower than 8x/8x or 16x/16x, provided the 4x slot is PCI-e 2.0 (which it is on the 770DE). I run a pair of HD6870s on a P8P67 motherboard that's configured as 16x/4x and performance is generally within 5% or so of a 16x/x16 setup.
