People were measuring time thousands of years before Britain even existed. "Time in what we know it as now" was not "invented" at Greenwich, and there is nothing unique about GMT except its calibrated point (a local observatory). The modern universal standard is actually UTC.

im sure doctor who would disagree

So Google is your friend. :p

So we have two reports, one written 30 years and the other just under 20 years ago based on American statistics where we know they can't drive properly and their driving patterns nor road systems/lighting bear no relationship to ours.

Rather than making up your own assertions about American driving why don't you post some sources showing that it isn't the case?

In that last report they concluded that the night time fatal involvement rate for drivers of all ages was 4.6 times the daytime rate. I noticed that night time is defined as being 9 PM to 6 AM.

Yeah when it's dark....

I'm not making assertions and I don't need to look for more sources. You didn't read yours so you need to post some that are relevant. The reports have got absolutely nothing all to do with UK accident patterns/causes and therefore have no use whatsoever in any extra daytime argument.

Yeah when it's dark....

Yes between 9pm-6am which really has no relevance on a proposed UK time change.

I'm all for the change. Scotland can either change their school time to 10am instead of 9am or keep the old system.

I hope this rubbish will never happen. How about you go fix the damn country before monging about with the clocks you time hippies

changing time.... i wait for the day in the future when they start charging you for sunlight exposure & weather depending on where you live, idiots more excuses to get more money.

Sort it out, if they're that keen on sorting out the country how about ALL mp's get a cutback of their salary to 30k each & expenses come out of their salary for the next 5 years? That'd do pretty well in savings. They need to stop beating round the bush.

As for the topic itself, I'm not particularly bothered! :D

I think it will just make more people drink longer and for that reason alone I cant see it coming in

Stuff that for a game of Soldiers!:mad:

That would mean I would be leaving for work in the dark all year round & I hate it this time of year as it is. Why do meddling politicians have to change things for the worse when they are OK as they are? :(

Not really for this. While I would love for it to stay brighter for longer - i still love waking up when it's sunny and it helps me get up too.

They are perfectly relevant and you have provided no sources to the contrary.

Of course it does, I don't know how to explain it any more simply.

Study shows when it's dark there is a higher rate of accidents.
Moving time 1hr forward makes it darker in the morning.
More people travel at this time than at night, kids going to school etc.
Ergo more car accident fatalities.
