OIL - History Lesson (warning - wall 'o' text)

Exactly.

I admit that nuclear has high up front costs, which is why I wanted to see 50-50 public/private partnerships for the funding to build them.

I'm not arguing against building new nuclear reactors. I'm merely challenging you on aspects which you thought were not true. A lot of work has been done to secure twin reactors at Sizewell C and Hinkley Point C. Wylfa and Oldbury will be quick to follow, Horizon Nuclear Power permitting. In my opinion, the Government will not let anything less than a nuclear station be built on those sites as they are prime sites. Bradwell is up for sale but no body wants it. So I won't be surprised if EDF Energy build two more EPR's on that site. It's going to be an interesting decade as we'll have EPR and AP1000 technologies. The only problem being we have no repository.

But all we have so far are "plans", no building has started, no fixed date for building starting has been set either afaik.

And we aren't even building enough to make a large dent in the % of the nation's power that comes from nuclear. Even once all the above reactors are complete we will still be at a lower % than France are today

There may be plenty of talking and planning going on, but it is all taking a very long time ... having started far too late and in far too small of a number

Could you please link us to the source, for context :)

Seems you are not going to.

The source is here:

Just seemed a bit odd that he posted it as if he wrote it without any reference to the fact it was copy and pasted from its original source :)

If you are going to reproduce somebody elses article it is considered convention to cite the source.

Some of us have to work for a living and not spend all day posting on forums, I've only just got home.

Yes you are correct, you can come down off your horse now and lol, that is not the page I got it from anyway
