Will a 6950 be wasted in my system?

I am finally ready to upgrade my GFX, I have thought about it plenty of times and come close before but now BF3 is on the horizon plus DiRT3 and Shift2 i feel the time is right, I am thinking of getting the 2GB 6950 but will my system hold it back too much?

Q6600 @ 3.2
P5Q Deluxe MB
4GB OCZ XTZ RAM
Running Win7 64
Gaming at 1680x1050

Will probably upgrade the rest of the system next year, so would the 6950 make a good choice for right now (and the future if i get the fabled flash to 6970 model) or would it be a waste right now with something even better worth waiting for come next year?

Your thoughts please...

Crossfire 4850's which have stood me proud tbh, the reason why i talked myself out of upgrading before now is because of how well these little chaps go, before now upgrading would have been for "want" not "need".

Let me show you this:

My driver version comes up wrong, it's the 11.2's I'm using(physX hack is the culprit).

What do you think?

To be honest its still a decent processor in my opinion.
some games have still yet to make use of quadcore... maybe it would be a better option to overclock?
at that resolution the gpu is overkill.

And in the meantime save up for upgrades in autumn time?
this is what i would do.

wow, tommybhoy, I had to keep taking a double look there, kept thinking i was getting them the wrong way around!

"maybe it would be a better option to overclock?"
You mean my current GFX cards? they are both Gainward Golden Samples which are pre-overclocked, surely there wouldn't be much more to get out of them?

Processor if you want to upgrade graphic card.
if your current card can play games hassle free why not wait few more months?

What i thought you meant by "wasted in system" was bottleneck lol im sorry.

Hmmm, already up from 2.4 to 3.2 and nice and stable at that, never tried going higher tbh, though again, as i'm already at 3.2 would any small increase really make that much difference?

If you are worried about bottlenecking when you upgrade gfx then maybe a few more mhz. 3.5?
