WTF Inconsiderate Parking

shove a jacket over your bumper and push the other car(s) out of the way, I got quite used to doing that in london also make sure you carry lots of burger king ketchup sachets they are a fantastic product to enhance the offending car(s) door handles with, hopefully inconvenience the other driver as much as you were.

I can imagine you doing that :D

I stop short of criminal damage, but have no problem throwing ketchup over door handles

I think people used to think because I had a "nice" car it would ruin my day and therefor they would receive an internet medal, delusion #1

the ketchup thing probably sounds weird, but I'm an addict so if I didnt have sachets I would very definitely have a bottle, nothing worse than a sausage and egg mc muffin thats not dripping with a steady flow of gods juice

I don't think it's reasonable say he can get out of that spot.

By my very sad calculations, an S60 needs at least 34.6cm of space over and above it's length to escape without it's corners bumping the cars at either end - and that's with absolutely perfect driving too. :D

I think you're assuming that the car is a rectangle.

It's not, it has rounded edges and will take less space than that, you can't just use pythag!

That's not enough room to get the car out, how could some of you say that is enough space to easily get out?! His Volvo will be touching those cars at both ends by the time it's at an angle!

Anyway, touch&feel parking is rubbish on modern cars with no rubbing strips, you're going to scuff the paintwork and the next time someone sees you they're going to return the favour...

With enough wheel-turning and time spent, you could get out of that. Even if you do gently touch the other car doing so, at the speeds you'll do it, you won't do any damage.

I doubt that they were being deliberately inconsiderate, I doubt either looked to see how much space you had on the other side and assumed that it was more than they had left.

That said inconsiderate parking does wind me up. If I want my car to be on the bottom of the drive for an early start I leave my car up the road until my gf gets home so as not to block in the guy opposite. It really narks me when my neighbour then parks outside my house and the poor bloke has to do an 11 point shuffle and drive half over his lawn to get on his drive. This is often made worse by them leaving about 18 inches between them and the curb, yet somehow they seem oblivious.

How incredibly annoying that must be. Presumably there's some way to find out the address of the owner(s), from the DVLA or something?

Probably not, but they should have.

Update,

So the situation was as I left it this morning so I knocked on the nearest door and by luck the guy who answered said it was his wife's car.

I asked politely if he could move it back so I could get out, I was still annoyed at the whole thing but kept my calm until the next bit.

The guy said he will move it, no problem I thought but what the guy failed to do is check if the car was in gear before starting, he didn't and surely enough it jolted forward when he started it bashing my car.

Calm over, I got out and basically went <insert favorite collection of profanities here>, not only did you park too close to me so I couldn't get out you then go hit my car

at one street i lived in i had a idiot park in my space that i had bein using for over half a year, well i just used my car to push them forward a few feet (was 6am and just finished a long shift), left for work next evening to see a note saying if i moved their car again i would have "problems", so promptly knocked on their door and asked what the problems whould be, que sheepish looks from the BF who wrote it, and explained i hade a cam trained on that spot. never had a parking problem in that street again.

LOL

Slightly off topic, but why do people create separate journeys for filling up?

I've always wondered this. Can't really understand why people do it. It takes more time than simply leaving a bit earlier and filling up, and uses more fuel anyway
