Is the sugar in fruit as bad for your body as the processed sugar you get in soft drinks and sweets?

I believe your body processes fructose easier than sucrose, but both are damaging to your teeth. Many fruits also have high acidity.

protein is win. can't go wrong. eat lots of chicken/lean meats. with vegetables. So much better than fruit for you too - I have bananas and occasional orange juice. The rest is all vegetables and meats - drink water lots. And still drink but try to avoid beer most of the time. Go for diet drinks and spirits or straight spirits if you're in the mood/mad.

Avoid fizzy drinks and I don't chew chewing gum because of acetate (however it's spelt). Instead floss and brush twice - use teepees to floss with. They're awesome.

Your dentist is a specialist on teeth and gums, not a doctor or dietician!

Don't allow them to dictate your diet - just scrub/floss/mouthwash/gum after consuming fruit! :)

It really irks me how some dentists have such a god-complex!

Well after reading the thread I find a post saying pretty much what I was about to say on the quote below.

I don't get it :s

The dentist is concerned about TEETH. He said the diet was affecting his TEETH. Sugar.. especially sticky natural sugars will get inbetween his teeth.

As said above, Dentists advise on teeth not diet, some people are taking it the wrong way. Fruit can have as much sugar as some sweets.

Put it into a blender and drink it through a straw.

just brush and floss regularly, and may be have less citrus fruit and more berries, melons and bananas instead.

Eat avacados, they're very low in sugars so won't damage your teeth, they also provide a source of raw/healthy fat.

You must have missed the small image of a face with a big smile.

Yes i understand what a dentist does.

No i have nothing to contribute.

Good day sir!

I brush twice a day, use mouthwash twice a day and floss regularly. I assumed that was enough. Apparently not.

Perhaps I should start taking mouthwash and a toothbrush to work with me?

Yeah, do that, stick with the fruit, it is good for you. :)
