Look Nvida will do 2x 580 cores maybe down clocked to 730 MHz, it will still beat out crossfire with some sweet new Nvidia drivers .

look what you're gonna start now raven ;)
lolz too late, kyle your like a fish taking the bait everytime, its great :D

He's being serious, this isn't him troll baiting. I don't think you were around at his worst, he's getting close to being how he was back then though.

The same performance, for twice the money though? Surely your quest to use nVidia isn't worth that? You'll be getting no extra performance.

hmm everyone i've asked thus far has said if money isnt an option go for the 580s don't get me wrong i'm not rich far from it but i sold my ati 5970 and that pays for one i can sell my gtx 465 that pays for abit of the second one so its not so bad.

edit. i will be going for the twin frozers as well overclocked and a lot cooler.

In my opinion, "money no object" is a bit of a fallacy though, because as I keep saying, you'll be getting the same performance for twice the cost, this is beyond crazy just to ensure you get it from the manufacturer you want.

I would completely understand if the 580s offered a load more performance, that'd make sense, but they really don't.

Maybe you should have held on to the 5970 and added a cheap 5870 for tri-fire.?

yeah probly but thats what you get when you jump the gun. the ati 6990 or 590 was my target. 6990 hasnt impressed me i mean its uber powerful but i really can't stomach that stock cooler and i'm not under water. just have a **** tonne of fans and a h50 water cooler :P

cant really argue against that lol. shame the twin frozer 6950s dont unlock.

i was here at fermi launch when he had a 5870, i watched the transition, if that counts :D

this for sure

long time lurker, seldom post.but i have to say that only in the world of graphics cards do you get flak for not being a raging fanboi and having the smarts to try, like and enjoy different brands.to have a pop at someone because they change brands a lot and enjoy there new toys regardless of who makes them is laughable.

ok so does anyone think that AMD's decision to pass the 300w limit, going with 375w clocking to 450w and beyond. Will effect Nvidia choices with the 590, as the screen shot of gpuz supposedly showing a dual Fermi card had most of the numbers blanked out but the clock speed started with a 6.. now seeing as AMD has shown their hand do you think that Nvidia have more room to manouver...?

and i cant find the thread with that gpuz shot in it at all now.

I can't figure out what you're trying to say, can you rephrase it please?

thank you, i am definatly not a fanboy a little crazy maybe but i really do like to chop and change i've been with ati for 3 years now 3870x2 4870x2 and 5970 and i really would like to switch to green for abit. i love both companies and i love monitoring there little battles. like 2 brothers fighting against each other to be better then each other its great to watch.

does it matter if you do change from ati to nvidia over and over,
it happens only with gfx cards, and you get so much stick for doing it
enjoy the cards for what they are
and stop having a pop at raven
i think is what he is saying

Whoops, quoted you only when it said "edited".

I thought it might have been that, but then they're saying how Raven(?) is getting stick for changing brands a lot, which he isn't, he's getting stick for his attitude when he does switch, because as we know, he can't just be happy with the card, he's got to go militant with it, and anti-brand he doesn't have. When he first signed up to these forums, he'd come out with some seriously outrageous stuff about AMD/ATi that he'd clearly just made up due to the fact that he had an nVidia graphics card.

This is why Gerard came up with the name "Captain Flip-Flop" in the first place, because of how badly he'd get afflicted by PJS and how his opinion would also flip-flop based on what graphics card he currently has. Come on, just because you change graphics card brands, it doesn't mean your opinion has to predictably change with it too, does it?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, because of the fact that it's nVidia, I'm actually saying, it's pointless to spend twice the money for the same performance, just because you want to go nVidia. I'm not saying that you should only get an AMD card, and definitely not an nVidia card, I'm talking about price to performance. I'd be saying the same thing if it was the other way around, and that you shouldn't be spending 2x the money for the same performance just to ensure you get AMD, because for the most part, the brand you buy should be irrelevant if the performance and price is right. The brand of the graphics card is pretty much secondary, for the most part, you probably couldn't tell what brand graphics card a PC has.

well i'm skipping the next gen of cards with the smaller die to get an ivy bridge then i'l get the next gen of cards after that or the high end cards of that generation see what happens.
