Sup guys,

So I'm thinking to purchase 2 of the Asus ATI Radeon HD 6950 and then flashing them both to get 2 6970's. So I'm wondering how do I flash them both? do I replace the card in the default 16x slot? and then change it to the other card and then flash it? then xfire them both?

I will be using it on the Motherboard: Asus Crosshair IV Formula AMD 890FX (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard. Also I'm running a 650 watt power supply.

so in other words I know how to flash a single card but how do I flash both of them? Is there a special procedure or something?

Thanks for reading,

Trigger

You can flash them both in windows, but if you did it through dos, there's a command to select each card individually, the card in the top slot will be called "0" and the second will be "1".

Heres my personal lil thing about power,

I was running a E6600 C2d @ 1.65v @ 3.8ghz for years, had a 2900xt on a 580w hyper type r,

got a 4870x2 for that rig, and it would run... Just... bsod all the time, got a 700W tagan all runs fine,

got sb now 4870x2 and same psu all runs fine, and the 4870x2 is a hungry card, practically like running two 6950s id say, so 700w is what id say minumum depending on rest of your cig, but its a ernermax psu, so i guess if you cant aford a new psu its worth a shot with the connectors, but if it dont work, psu upgrade time my friend :)

Thanks for the advice, I will try the connectors first, then if it fails its time for a new psu. Thanks :D

Defo go for a larger PSU before even considering xfire. If I were you I would be looking more towards 800-1000W. IMO 650W wouldn't any where near enough for 2 cards.

I'm running a coolermaster gx750 atm, 4xpcie connectors, runs perfectly :)
And quite cheap :)

I actually have my eye on this one :) but for some reason it has different specs between the OCUK website and the actual cooler master one. The ocuk one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-202-CM&tool=5 says that it has only 2 PCI-E 8 Pin Connectors and the and the cooler master website http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6643 says it has 4 PCI-E 8 Pin Connectors!

thats the same price i got my 850TX corsair at in Jan 2010, that has 4x8 pin and runs my xfire nicely

If one card recommends 500W (and remember that will be a cheaper one, since they always allow for a bit of leeway), you wont need over 800W since thats 300W over 500W.

A solid 700-800W PSU will be perfect.

Before I had the above 750w PSU I had an Antec tp-650 and it wasn't enough for the flashed cards and my i7.
