His brother posted in english then in his dilect directly above i would like to know what it said please.

text as follows

2ina lillah wa 2ina 2ilayhi raji3oon, allah yirhamak ow yira 3alek.

Thanks all

*edit* i've tried all the online translators i can find but they come up with nothing

I have tried various translators, that makes no sense whatever. Also why not just text him back and get him to say it abit clearer?

Sorry to hear it though mate.

How exactly is a translator supposed to translate txt speak? It's got numbers in the middle of words for a start!

It would be like a French person trying to translate "ey up m8, do u wana go 2 the pub 2nite?" for example... with no knowledge of the English language... without even knowing that it was English in fact! Do you even know what language it is?

he's been updating facebook via blackberry but i don't have his newest number to contact him. I only had his brothers number who is sadly no longer with us.

Yeah it's a dilect of arabic, and it is a proper language but i have no idea how the numbers come into play in the language?

I dont think that that is text speak.

I have some arabic friends who use that sort of notation when using keyboards/keypads without arabic characters.

Cheers man that helps a little now i know that. Gonna ring a few friends and see if i can find out whats going on or how to disect the language

If it's the same as greek then the numbers don't mean anything on their own. They are associated with the letter before/after it so that the letter+number represents a different character which obviously can't be typed easily/texted.
