Dragon Age 2 - * Official *

Ha! Exactly. I love a great game and great story, but not if takes 50, 60...100 hours to complete. Would never, and have never, played a game that long.

Then go play an FPS like crysis. Theres a story, you run around mindlessly killing things, and then it ends.

Why do RPGs have to stoop to such a low level for people who cant appreciate deep, challenging and complex gameplay?

Whats wrong with that when I can get games that last 10 times as long and are better in every RPG aspect for <£20?

Because games aren't priced based on how long they take to complete, surely you cant be serious here?

We get it, you (and others) think DA2 is rubbish, you are upset Bioware have changed the RPG format, you dont want it, go away then and stop complaining.

I'm being serious, you're not getting the point.

When I buy an RPG, I expect to be getting an actual RPG, with a nice huge world to explore, lots and lots of quests to do, and lots of content.

Elder Scrolls games are a great example of that. You can finish the main story line in around 30 hours, but if you want to everything in the game, it will last you for several hundreds of hours.

Theres also MMORPGs, such as guildwars. I paid around £100 for all the chapters, and have sank in over 5000 hours playing the game over almost 6 years.

Now then, a single player game that will only last 30-40 hours? Sure, £25 is ok for such a game if its a typical FPS, they never have hardly any content, and are mostly incredibly short and boring. But for an RPG to be that short with hardly any side quests or nothing to do away from the main story line to et extra gameplay out of it?

Wait, did I just say RPG? I meant a console derp ruined hack n slash game with no RPG elements at all.

lots of people are complaining about the combat.
i think it looks great. On the demo, i actually had to think about the combat and use tactics which i didn't really do in origins.

The only thing nightmare does is seem to give enemies stupid amounts of hp.. doesn't make it any harder tactically.. just seems to make them take a lot longer go down.

I personally find that a little boring. Hard difficulty was ok.

Their damage output was up'ed as well I believe as was the spell use and variety. Both would have meant that along with friendly fire you needed to have effective crowd control, know the enemy attacks, the correct application of balms and potions (and traps), taunt more and lock down attack sequences to maximise the damage given to damage taken ratio.

Gawd... I love DAO. Every encounter was a mini RTS puzzle. loved every second of it.

I guess, but after a certain point it doesn't matter as its very easy when you are say lvl 15 or so. You can just steam roll any fight regardless of the difficulty.

The only time I had trouble was right at the start of the game when it was originally released. After playing through it for a second time it was stupidly easy.

Why they make games where the lead character never speaks is beyond me

It lets you imagine your role and character's personality rather than having it forced onto you. Its a lot more immersive.

Why people need every line of their stories narrated to them rather than reading and imagining for themselves is beyond me. :D

Well that wasnt really a review was it, more of a game assasination, i like the way they have simplfied things in the game, and the lead character now speaks. Why they make games where the lead character never speaks is beyond me

Its only an excellent review because it would seem to agree with his 'outraged' opinion based on the demo. Other than that its a load of tosh on a random forum :p

Clearly someone who starts their review with -"I've been playing the game for about 5 to 6 hours now. And I've gotta say I'm unsure I can take another minute of this rotting piece of turd. Therefore I will dedicate my time into writing (with words, not photoshops)a review for this "game". Shall we?" is a joke to start with :p

Sigh there's that demo bit mentioned again :(

Why don't you do a review?, persuade us how amazing DA2 is!

Why do I need to persuade you? Its probably not the game for you if you only like the really old school RPG style and a bit more depth, I fully respect that.

But its not like they can quick-fix this with a patch so you'll just have to hope they listen for future games and add the depth in again :)

i planned this perfectly. By coincidence i have a week off work next week. i'm currently playing origins on easiest setting so as to get through it in time.
i might try upping the difficulty on DA2, although it's not relly my style.
On games like this, i tend to savour the story as opposed to the combat.

i also hardly ever play as a mage in rpg's, but i like the look of the mage in DA2, so will probably give that a go for my first play through.
