films that are apparently great

Can't think of any specific examples, but there are probably loads of older movies that are 'classics' that I haven't seen and probably never will.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the Godfather, the Godfather: Part II and One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest come to mind.

The Hangover, I enjoyed watching it but I didn't think it was as funny as some people claim. definitely no Superbad.

I have yet to see the Godfather films, and embarrassingly (as I *love* horror films) The exorcist or the omen.

I used to be culturally uneducated like yourselves then I started the IMDB film 250 course, a night course which you can do in your own time and at your own pace. I am now no longer the ridicule of my peers and when called upon to provide deep, thought provoking discussion on the film greats I hesitate not for I know them well :p

To be fair, there were lots of so called great films I had never seen before deciding to do this. For example, I had never seen any of the Godfathers or The Shawshank Redemption. I was getting fed up of people gasping in horror whenever I revealed this humiliating fact so decided that the IMDB top 250 would be a fairly good list to work from and I am thoroughly enjoying most of the films (though there is the odd dud).

Not seen any of the Godfather films, or 2001.

Edit: Oh and Pulp Fiction. Just never had any overwhelming desire to watch them.

In all honesty, I thought the Godfather films were really slow, particuarly the first one, to the point where it massively took away from the film.

I prefered Goodfellas :)

star wars...

pretty appauled at people who havent seen the godfather though. especially those who have watched other mafia movies or other classic (i probably havent ever watched star wars properly because i despise sci fi)

Avatar(well, I've seen about 40% of it) and The Kings Speech. Everything I've seen of Avatar looks like stupid. I've watched ever movie in the IMDB top 50 movies.

I've not yet watched The Godfather, Once Upon A Time In America, any of Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy, Some Like It Hot, Casino and I could go on. Perhaps the oddest thing is that I own many of these films but I've just not got round to watching them, maybe it's because I've always got the option it never seems an imperative or maybe it's because I've just not been in the mood to want to watch a taxing film at the time.
