following on from my air cpu cool thread ive narrowed the choice to 2 coolers

thermalright archon
and
thermalright silver arrow

i dont think the silver arrow will cause a problem for the g.skill ripjaws i have however the archon may,

from what i read they both have similar cooling but the archon being narrower may look better and be more acceptable

i believe the archon is 170mm tall and the u12p is 158.
ive included a pic to show the gap my u12p has to my side fan

the archon is also £5 cheaper

what do you think?

I think the Noctua DH-D14 might actually have more room for Ram clearance than the Silver arrow, if is still an option. Performs at about the same level, little more expensive though.

yes the cost is what was holding me back as well as coming with inferior paste [so i hear from reviews]

I've heard the Archon performs as well if not better than the Silver Arrow with two TY-140's, have you tested the Archon Helios?

I'm not sure when it goes on sale but we might be giving some away soon enough ;).

I was going to test the Archon today but they gave me the wrong fan clips. One thing you have to consider is that you'll need to get a second fan with the Archon for Silver Arrow beating better performance (I can't verify how true that is until I test it for myself) and be sure that it can definitely fit inside your case.

Sign me up :) competition?

Yes I did see it was better with 2 fans and the height would be very close if not too tall, ive gotta say the one above would suit my case. The would like to try it

There's the new prolimatech one as well, which has half the fins at 90 degrees and on different heatpipes to the other ones, think it was in latest news but looks absolutely beasty :)
