You know, I was playing CoD4 earlier and my septum fell out.. Thought this was strange but clearly not.

AHAHAHAA!

So yeah this guy is quite a tool.

I mean the same could be said for athletes or musicians, he just doesn't like computer games because they confuse his pompous old person brain.

IMO this does not affect all types of games, I understand MMO's that they are highly addictive due to game mechanics but puzzle games and simulators are not addictive they are just pure fun.

Not even in the same ballpark, for starters if i spent £40 on coke i'd get a quality product, same can't be said for 90% of games releases our days......

Games are addictive and can mess up your sleep patterns, so he has a point

Just because he uses the slightly over the top comparison with class A drugs, doesn't detract from that situation.

But wouldn't be addicted to coke mean you are addicted to the substance and not the high? Just curious, for anyone who knows what it's like :)

And I think games are only addictive to people who easily become addicted to stuff anyway.

Describing his campaign against gaming as a "personal quest to spread the message", Pope urged any parents listening to the broadcast to "go upstairs to your kids bedroom and try and take the game station controller out of their hands".

He said most kids will react "in the same way as an alcoholic would if you tried to take their booze – it's scary".

I remember when my mom used to come upstairs and take the book I was reading away and then told me to go to sleep. I used to go batty about it.

Probably ok 'cus it was a book though...

Maybe he is just comparing two nominally additive things, without going in the actual mechanics of that addiction?

I can get addicted to a game to the point of having to give away the game CD, but I've never been addicted to anything else in life.
