Hi all. I've just been paid and feel the urge to make a purchase of something computer like. Anyone have any suggestions?

My spec as follows....

CPU: I5 760
MOTHERBOARD: P55 USB3
MEMORY: 8GB GEIL BLACK DRAGON
GPU: MSI GTX 470
CASE: ANTEC 900
SPEAKERS: LOGITECH 2:1 system
KEYBOARD: G15
MOUSE: G500

The money you are spending will get you an i5 2500k sandybridge setup, well maybe a little more but sandybridge is the way to go, look here. i5 1156 solutions are dead tbh.

I have an LG W2361v @ 1920/1080 and am quite happy with this at the mo. As far as SSD goes, how would one perform with the above spec used as mainly for gaming?

dont get antec 900 get 902 , there is place for cable management , also as someone suggested go with i5~2500k or wait for bulldozer AMD cpus coming out in June.

Might want to have a look at the Hazro HZ27WC 27in, 2560x1440 IPS panel monitor, it is expected to arrive on OCUK in the next few weeks at around £400-420. Here is an in-depth review.

Coming from a 23in 1920x1080 TN panel this will be a Massive upgrade.

Also, if you are going to get an SSD then please wait for the next generation Sandforce SF-2200 controller SSDs to come out. The OCZ Vertex 3 which uses this controller will be out later this month and looking at this review it will destroy the current generation SSDs.

If the current spec of any PC is a 775, 4GB RAM then people might aswell burn their money. I would love to know how much is been wasted on hardware.

The vertex 2 pro that really launched the Sandforce 1000 series controllers arrived in December 2009. In less than 2 weeks from today the next generation 2000 series (SF-2200) will be available to buy - personally I think its worth the wait (especially considering how well we know it performs compared to the current gen and doesn't cost much more).

To answer your question, it will be ~15 months between the launch of the Vertex 2 and Vertex 3, so assuming the same gap between the next gen coming out I would expect somewhere in mid-2012.

Deffo SSD, It was prob the best upgrade i did, After that you could allways upgrade to a 3d monitor or possible a new mouse.. my next upgrade will prob be a keyboard i have nothing else to spend cash on at the moment.
