Earthquake in Japan....9.0...ouch!

So because of an increase in Random events, you draw conclusions from that?
Anyhow, I want to know when the last time the world has not changed with time..

have i actually said what my conclusions are ? No
im merely stating stuff is happening on a bigger and more frequent scale

god bless japan, and all those who lost their lives today

A 6.6 earthquake has just hit central Japan.

Holy ****.

Is is true there was a volcano eruption somewhere in the pacific aswell?

Has anyone noticed how the frequency of large scale natural disasters is increasing over time (the past 10 years or so), the amount of earthquakes and volcanoes erupting and changing is quite scary.

Luckily nothing major has happened in the UK.

Goodluck to Japan though, first a 8.4 earthquake and now a 6.0 just happened in central Japan, hopefully nothing else happens now although people are saying the nuclear reactors/plants are very unstable right now and are increasing in pressure?

But they haven't really, there's loads of quakes each day and if you look at them over a longer time frame they aren't anymore frequent than they ever have been. All your seing is an increase in media coverage.

its all going off today
Indonesia volcano erupts

im talking about the frequency of stuff happening, within the past 8 years we have had 2 major tsunami events, loads of deadly earth quakes, and volcanoes waking up
the earth i feel is changing

Have a look at this site, disaster and alert map RSOE EDIS
RSOE EDIS

Don't forget that we are more aware of these events as our communication methods are instant compared with say 10 years ago - therefore it changes our perception of events. The Earth is still a volatile place.

The Boxing Day earthquake in 2004 was one of the most powerful ever recorded and it maybe responsible for some of the activity since, seen around the Asia-Pacific region.

My thought is that after a significant major quake it can upset other faults / plates (e.g. friction builds up in another area of a fault line/plate). Its more likely just conicidence and I'm unsure if any real relationship exists. A BBC Horizon programme had looked at the Mediterreanean / Turkey region once and there was some evidence of this (may only apply to this fault line)

You can't predict earthquakes, but sometimes there are indicators that the Earth is about to let rip...

Yeah felt the dudley one, also experienced 1-2 others - nothing above a magnitude 5.5 tho which I believe is like 150,000 times less energy than the one off Japan today.
