Earthquake in Japan....9.0...ouch!

How would he help stabilise the reactor?

Yeah, I don't think he meant he was personally going to get in there with his Swiss Army knife and have a tinker :) I assume, as well as the coolant, they're offering other technical assistance if needed.

They've been flying nuke coolant out to Japan all day.

Ah fair enough, thats good :)
Plus Obama is the coolest dude on the planet... just him being there will cool it down.

Haha I didn't mean he was going to fly out and fix it himself :p

Lot of people are blaming the "Supermoon" event for causing this. :\

supermoons occur 4-6 times a year. people blaming that tsunami on a supermoon are the people who think it happens once every 18 years. ie, people who dont know better.

like Lysander said, it probably intensified it, but thats about it.

I did (a time ago ..)
However it was mostly spent having to learn shopping trends and store placement :(

Not quite what i had in mind.

Yea I know what you mean but we are still taught that shifting tectonic plates causes stuff to shake. Doomsday crap spouting idiots seem to be on the rise.

The sooner my birthday 2012 gets here and everyone realises their lives are still boring the better.

End of the day, there is lots of stuff we really don't know about how the earth works.
Super moon or not this sort of stuff is happening on a bigger scale than the last
I think things are only going to get worse I feel
And for people to talk about doomsday stuff are only looking at the facts of what's going on round the world

1826: Boats in Santa Cruz harbour, California, have been damaged by waves generated by the tsunami, US broadcaster ABC reports. Water levels dropped by about 9ft (2.7m). Cliffs above Ocean Beach in San Francisco have been filled with spectators, it says.

The largest earthquake ever was over 50 years ago, the world didn't end then.

its all going off today
Indonesia volcano erupts
One of Indonesia's most active volcanos has erupted, sending lava and searing gas clouds tumbling down its slopes.

im talking about the frequency of stuff happening, within the past 8 years we have had 2 major tsunami events, loads of deadly earth quakes, and volcanoes waking up
the earth i feel is changing

Have a look at this site, disaster and alert map RSOE EDIS

So because of an increase in Random events, you draw conclusions from that?
Anyhow, I want to know when the last time the world has not changed with time..

# 1851: More on the troubled nuclear plant: Japan's trade minister, Banri Kaieda, says authorities are nearing a decision to release radioactive steam from the Fukushima nuclear reactor in a bid to ease a build-up of pressure, AFP reports. Thousands of local residents have been evacuated.

1841: The situation at the nuclear reactor at Fukushima seems to be worsening. Japanese authorities are now to release radioactive vapour to ease pressure, AP news agency reports. Engineers are trying to fix the cooling system to the main reactor, damaged in the quake.
