I've got a Lenovo T410 running Windows 7 Ultimate. It has an integrated webcam and the drivers are installed correctly as it's showing in Device Manager.

However, I have no idea how to fire it up to see if it's working, or to take a still image with it.

I've been over the Lenovo support website and done some Googling but can only find the actual device drivers for it.

Is there some generic (free) software I can use with it?

If you are going to use Skype then the drivers will find it. I have to say that this camera is minimalist in quality compared shall we say with a Logitech 9000 Pro or the Logitech c910 or a good quality webcam.

Moviemaker can do this as well, but it's annoying how you need some additional software. I'm sure you used to be able to view the webcam feed natively in XP.

I know you can do it in XP, so I figured 7 Ultimate would too but I can't find any options for it.

I don't use Skype or Live Messenger (far too much crap packaged with it these days), is there an app which just allows you to take a still pic?

not off the top of my head...lenovo usually have one on the website to download though (did last time I checked, but it was years ago)
Windows movie maker is part of the live suite these days too. If you wanna check then you're gonna have to try something....else just don't use it!

Im pretty sure if you just go to View Devices and Printers and double click on the webcam it will give you a little preview.

I tried that but it's not showing, and I can't add it either (it's showing in Device Manager though).

Guess I'll have to check out the Windows Live stuff and see what's what...
