Just bought an Xbox 360 and set it up today with my PC monitor using HDMI cable. However the graphics a are looking terrible. With Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty Black Ops and Crysis 2 (multiplayer demo) my gun takes about 3 seconds to load the detail every time I spawn. Also enemies and map textures are extremely low, making it near impossible to clearly make out enemies at anything other than close range.

I have set my display settings to 1080p, I have also set my PAL settings to 60hz to be in line with my monitor. However I have seen no improvement. I know the HDMI cable is fine as I used to use it with my PC, but just switched to DVI for the PC so the 360 could use the HDMI instead.

I’ve been looking forward to playing in parties on xbox live for ages but I cant play effectively when the visuals are so horrible. I really feel lost and have no idea what to do other than give up.

If anyone has experienced this or has any advice please help.

the xbox is 6 years old now, try playing those games on a 6 year old pc and they will look worse than they do on 360,

fail troll is fail

Not trolling. I understand the visuals won't stand up to the PC, but this is almost unplayable. I can barely make people out at a distance (they look like blobs) and the textures should never be this bad.

Heck, HD youtube videos of these games look better than how they play.

a 2005 PC would be a match for the 360 actually, even more so if the PC was 'only' running at a 720P resolution. Gears of War runs comfortably on 2005 hardware and looks better than the 360 version.

a 2006 PC would utterly destroy the consoles as that's when the 8800 series came out which were capable of running Crysis on high settings.

just sayin'

I'm not sure if the OP is trolling or not, 360 games look fine, not as good as PC obviously but they're certainly not horrid. (on the whole) I play on a 42" plasma so that's almost double the size of your monitor and I still have no issues sat about 5 feet back.

I must admit, I got a slim not so long ago and Halo Reach seems to be extremely jaggied, almost reminded me of GTA: SA on the xbox. Do they not have AA at 720p?

I had a 8800 GTS and that seriously struggled on crysis at 1680x1050 I could probably get 30fps on medium,

I upgraded to a 1gb 4870 and although much better it still struggles to run crysis on high

Games on my pc do look better than 360 but not a complete generation better

Reach is sub 720p res so would have jaggies regardless.

My 360 looks rubbish on my U2410 so I use pixel mapping and play at 720p which improves things a bit. Consoles are designed to be played at a distance where low res textures are less noticeable so they will never look good on a PC screen.

Have you double checked the display settings? I know when I change cables the settings reset and it goes back into SD mode.

You can't seriously be using crysis as a comparison to how 5 year old pc hardware stacks up against a 360?

Play MW2 on the 360 and MW2 on the PC with 5 year old hardware and see which looks better.

Flamebait if ever I saw it. I'm using my slim on a 37" LG Hdtv via hdmi which would show up any poor quality visuals with ease. The picture quality is fantastic so either your settings are wrong, your monitor is knackered or you're trolling.

Coming from Pc gaming to console gamine, aside from top notch sony exclusives console games are horrid compared to PC resolutions. Alas I still like to relax on a console.
