****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

Well I've just been to gamestation to check it out and come out with my thoughts.

Really well made as usual, 3D effects were fantastic, I only had time to try the AR games which gave me a good impression of the console and it's capabilities, I was really well impressed, more than I thought, the nice lady even told me if you get a large printed version the monster is even bigger apparently :D.

3D effect didn't feel like a gimmik, unlike movies it only took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust and even when checking the bottom screen it felt fine, the problem was after I had finished playing with the device I was somewhat drained and my eyes had to take a few moments to adjust without the 3D.

When I get the device, I can see myself playing with the 3D on sometimes but not for the duration of my gametime, as much as I loved the 3D I don't think I could play for extended periods.

Though for the console itself it will be worth it, seems Nintendo have innovated again and kept me at the forefront of their attention, it's just a shame that the Wii wasn't as 'good' as I hoped it was when it was released.

Oh And I went into another store first and I was told it was nicked the day before while someone was testing it, surprised it wasn't chained to the clerk.

Very good question, we haven’t seen any thing about it since the E3 demo last July :(

Bet it's not till later on in the year, I thought it'd be a release title. I Think I might use lovefilm to rent splinter cell before buying it because splinter cell trilogy comes out a week later for the PS3

Where was this? I was in Gamestation yesterday and was handed a 3DS after the adviser shouted out "anyone seen the 3DS" a few times. There was nothing stopping me doing a runner, not that I would ever do anything like that I'm just suprised Nintendo gave them these units so early back in January and their security is so lax.

Having never played the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2 and looking at the reviews it got at the time, I have decided to add this as my second game. The dreamcast version sounds really good and the 3DS version looks better. I'm thinking this will make a beautiful game to explore as apposed to a pick up and play style game.

Ok finally got my preorder down, black one with Pilotwings. Oh, and I got Chrono Trigger too. I heard a rumour my SDHC card may work in it as well.

Game in Chester, after finding that out I went to gamestation where their was someone with it showing it to customers, it wasn't chained, I was handed it willy nilly to test it, as you say, I could have easily just ran out the shop.

Gonna pre-order, undecided on what game to get though :(

Think Rayman will be the safest bet, will pick up Pokemon too

I really, really want Devil Survivor but no idea when that will come out in Europe :o

Rayman is a decent game, I enjoyed it when I had it on my N64, though that was a while ago.

It's just a shame that Ubisoft seem to just re-release the same rayman games and not make any new ones, they've murdered the series with raving rabbids, I hope though that Rayman Origins turns out to be good.

I agree raving rabbids was awful! I'm suprised there isn't a 1st party killer game though, it seems to me in order to make the thing a guaranteed success I would release a killer game. They knew about the 3DS since 2009, I would have thought that's plenty of time to release a killer game.

I just cancelled my preorder and nabbed it for £207 including pilotwings, Hope I get it on release day as I'll be mega pleased! :D

Also got some quidco as well, good job I put the cash in my account as they pretty much taken it out as soon as I completed the transaction!

Works out at £188.37 for 3DS and game!

9% quidco

That doesn't seem right... the review I mean, it practically discusses nothing about the game and talks in a very vague way, leaving out any hint of detail, it seems to be more of an advert than anything?

Nearly all of the reviews I skimmed are like that!!! It's like he just got the marketing blurb for each game, expanded a bit and then calls it a review. I suspect he hasn't even played the games. Also all the videos are just trailers and gameplay videos already released elsewhere.

Only a fool would consider any of that site as a serious review!! All the reviews are like 9 or more out of 10 and each page has at least 2 adverts to buy the console from Amazon. Looks like the site was just setup to capitalise on people desperate for a quick review and hoping they would buy using his affiliate links.

Yea I agree. It's as if Nintendo are paying him for the reviews.

Yeah it did strike me as suspect given that nowhere else seems to have any info of the game up. Well apart from Famitsu I mean.

Maybe there is a review embargo on sites that will be lifted soon? Can't be long now as I am sure most review sites have the hardware and retail games in their possession and are just waiting for the date to lift before publishing. (I am referring to "western" sites, I am sure japanese sites have already reviewed some games as it was released there last week).

Did the same, but with monkey ball.

I seriously don't know how or why you would want to sell it at that price, considering Nintendo sell them to retailers at around the £160 mark (from what I've heard) so making a profit on these must be slim.

But hey, I'm sure they gain a lot of customer loyalty from it.

I'm sure Rayman will work pretty well, I may get it with my cashback as I remember getting Rayman with my original GBA and loving it.
