Going to Edinburgh shortly to celebrate a 40th birthday and are looking for a
nightclub that would be suitable (would be a Saturday)

Don't know if there is anywhere that would do some 90's stuff ?

Also any pointers to good pubs round George Street.

Thanks

George Street tends to be expensive apart from The Standing Order which is a Wetherspoons, if you don't mind a bit pricey then The Opal Lounge is supposed to be quite good. Personally I had a lot more fun on a pub crawl down Rose Street than I ever did in the Opal Lounge but it depends what you want - for reference Rose Street is the street parallel between George Street and Princes Street.

As for 90's music, I suspect that either of the Subway clubs (if they're still open) are a fairly good bet for that sort of music.

I haven't been out properly in Edinburgh for ages though so hopefully someone else with more recent knowledge will help you out.

I agree with George Street / Rose street ( I never go there but their is a fair share of pubs and clubs.

Grassmarket / cowgate is also littered with pubs and a few clubs.

Im sure Lava & Ignite play older music upstairs which is just at the top of lothian road.

My band used to play in the Subway (when there was only one) back in the early 90's. Amazed the place still exists :)

Is Evol still going?

The Opal Lounge looks okay - will probably get refused entry knowing my luck :(

I got a gobble in the phone box down from Stereo once, if that helps?

Will keep that in mind if there's no Kebab places open as nothing beats a good
doner :D

No, Evol was a standalone club in the Cowgate, opposite a pub I want to call Hell's Kitchen (maybe?) and The Liquid Rooms are on Chamberlain Street aren't they? Might have changed, mind.

Ah, I see. In that case I've never heard of it I'm afraid although I've not been on a huge amount of nights out in Edinburgh. The Liquid Rooms are on Victoria Street now but they may have been on Chamberlain Street at some point.
