Hi all,

I got a new build for my brother that included the MSI Radeon HD6850 (cyclone). He's just tried to connect another monitor via the second DVI connector and it refuses to be detected.

I went round there to "fix it" and found that only one of the DVI ports is outputting anything. Both monitors work fine in the first DVI port, but nothing works in the second. I've googled around and fiddled but I can't figure out why it's not detecting.

Some pages I found led me to believe that it actually only supports one monitor via DVI however that is not what the page on OcUK says.

Any input on this matter gratefully received before I ring them when they open tomorrow :)

Thanks

Try the HDMI and see if that works. It sounds like one of the DVI's is faulty in which case i would ask OC to exchange it for you.

The 6850 supports two monitors over DVI provided you don't have anything connected to the HDMI port. You should get the initial BIOS text and Windows loading screen on both monitors, if that's not happening then I'd suspect the DVI port is broken.

Is it actually DVI, or via DVI-VGA adapters?

I believe only 1 of the DVI ports will output VGA as well (for use through an adapter) - the other is digital only.
