Beeping bin bag!

I can see the news now.

"Binbag bomber foiled by Computer enthusiast."
In the early hours of this morning police bomb disposal experts in deepest cornwall detonated an explosive device left in a refuse pile outside a number of houses ready for collection. The police believe this to be the work of the Bingbag Bomber who they think may be responsible for a number of attacks against refuse workers across the country. The device was found by local resident JCBeastie who after much procrastination decided to consult a large online community known collectively as OCUK. Worried members of the online forum urged Beastie to report this potentially serious incident to the local police. Luckily for the residents of cornwall that is exactly what he did. The police would like to thank OCUK for their excellent judgement of the situation and persuading the indecisive Beastie to do the right thing by posting such comments as "OMG1!! Its a BOM!!1 Phones da Rozzers!" and "Seriously dude it could blow up your house!". However the police explained that the situation could have been handled much more efficiently if unhelpful posts such as "Cool story Bro!" and "jesus.jpg" had not been posted. When asked to comment on the sitution OCUK representative Gibbo replied that they had secured more stock of Nvidias GTX480 and that they would be able to extend their crazy pricing on this for a few more days. We are not sure how this is relevent.

In other news a morris dancer caught fire yesterday after being struck by lightning while caught outside wearing bells in a thunderstorm.
:D

I've phoned the Police you planks!

I just thought it was worthy of a thread. :P

My thoughts are that it is probably an alarm off of something, probably stolen, who knows? Why would you throw out something that beeps and flashes??

Why make a bomb that beeps really loud? or beeps at all? :/

How would you know it was a bomb if it didn't bleep and flash and have a countdown timer?
Muslims watch crappy American films too y'know :)

Cornwall is on their Jihad hit list now, death to binbags is just the start,
they'll be smashing pasties next

Don't ask me. I don't make bombs. Who knows what they've used to make it?

Are you on prescription medication? You should be...

Get that paranoia in check. :|

It's not paranoia, it's good sense. Something odd is flashing inside a bin bag, yes, it could be the low battery light on a ***** or it could be something nefarious. Why take the risk? The police will judge whether to come down or not, let them do their jobs.

Sorry if I'm being harsh, but I see a lot of it on OcUK. "My pants are too tight, could I have gained weight or am I washing it at too high a temperature?"

Officers are on their way to investigate apparently. I don't want to dig through bins searching for a mysterious and noisy object.

Hah, we did this many years ago in leicester town centre one saturday afternoon - We came out of the globe pub and walked down the street when one of our group notices a 'beeping' sound coming from a nearby rubbish bin... a recent bomb threat to the old haymarket theatre a couple of weeks before, focused our drink addled brains in this direction. So we called the five-oh and went back to the pub.
Meanwhile... the city centre is cordoned off whilst a 'controlled detonation' was carried out by bomb disposal experts. As we refused to leave the boozer at that point, the police who evacuated the buildings and streets nearby, told us to keep away from the windows - we were not about to waste valuable drinking time in an empty pub, or our recently tapped beers for that matter, for a mere possible explosive event.

Anyway, the upshot was a lot of saturday afternoon chaos for shoppers and the guy who made the phone call was abysmally misquoted following a brief interview by the local rag (how they knew who he was without being introduced, is perhaps the most mysterious event of the day, but there you go). Turned out the 'device' was a pager

I still have the newspaper cutting somewhere.

Turned out to be a carbon monoxide detector inside of a deep fat fryer!

Well that was fun.

When did you ring them? Because your first post was at 19:33 and you hadn't rung them and then less than an hour later they had been and checked it out, maybe mentioning the word bomb makes the police work atleast 450% faster than usual?

Actually, 10 mimutes is all that took..

So, OCUK top tip:

If you ever get burgled or need the police in a hurry, place a beeping device in a bin bag outside, call police. Rozzers turn up, find device then you say "whilst you are here, i've been burgled".

Saves having to wait the 24+ hours the rozzers normally take to turn up :D

EDIT: Monkeymatt is on the same thought path ^^ :D

No bombs were mentioned and Cornwall Police need something to do on a sunday night.
