Company Name!

If you guys are not creative enough to think of a good company name you are doomed to failure in the world of marketing.

Seriously - I can understand why if your specialist skill was perhaps crafting furniture or whatever you might not be able to think up a name, your skills are elsewhere, but marketing?!

You are going to be charging other people to pretty much answer the same sort of questions for them!

Innovation fail: asking somebody else for the answer ;)

Agree with Fox as well, see so many threads pop up on here saying spec me a company name or a logo or a slogan. If you ain't creative enough to think of the simplest thing, especially in the market you are aiming at then how do you expect to do well?!

Oh dear, smart asses are out in force today. Suppose shouldnt have posted at this time of the day!

Anyone with anything constructive?

That's it, dismiss us as being smart.

You want to start a marketing business - you are going to charge others for your creative talent - when your talent doesn't even stretch far enough to think up a decent name?

Like the majority of new start ups this one is doomed from the start. You need to be special to make it in marketing.

Not being a "smart arse" if we are right though... :p

As much as I hate to admit it I agree with Fox as well.

I would never dream of asking anyone to assist me with Marketing stuff - it should the other way round.

Thats a bit harsh but I would never ever come on here for ideas for a business name - Marketing background or not, you would get better responses from asking people on the street.

As marketing people (I am sure you are aware ;)) its better that your name has a meaning to the people who have set up the business... or at least is appropriate to your client base - or the total opposite to stand out.

Getting people on a forum to make suggestions I wouldn't say was the best way to choose a name.

People will ask about your name and its origin, its the substance of your brand and image.. by them asking - its a hook to a conversation/potential BD and demonstrates your marketing ability and values as a company.... sounds a bit rubbish when you are asked "so how did you come up with the name X?" "Oh we got a bunch of random strangers on an internet forum to choose it for us, who don't know anything about our company or ourselves." :/

This should be your first brainstorming project!
