Anyone been to Phukhet?

Hi,

Has anyone been to phukhet, if so what part would you recommend staying in? Kata, Karon, Patong or elsewhere?

Hotel suggestions also appreciated.

I've also been googling for info on tailors, all info seems a bit old. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've been to Thailand but not Phukhet. I've been told it's quite seedy.

The best tailors are in Bangkok.

Patong is very big and mega lively

Kata and Karon a lot quieter but I like them

we stay in between them all at this place

only Tailor I have used was the one at the hotel, very good but not as good as the one I use in Bangkok

Phuket town is no great shakes but fantastic market (not as good as the Bangkok markets but still a good experience), but Phuket island itself is gorgeous and quiet with lots to do still. Bit of a trek to the various activities but so worth it.

We stayed here which is on the north-west of the island and I'd go back tomorrow if I could. It was just fantastic.

But it is just a resort at the end of the day (and out of season, lots of very noisy Indian weddings!) - if you want to see Thailand, go somewhere else. If you want to relax, explore a little and be a shortish bus journey away from some fun activities, it's a great place to go.

I've stayed at Patong, it's ok but not the nicest area

Bangla road is quite interesting on an evening
