It's that time of year again for us racing fans, 4 days of top-class jumps action and this one's as mouth-watering as any. Again, this year's Gold Cup features the two warriors Denman and Kauto Star, but last year Imperial Commander ruined the party by landing the spoils. However, this year for me the biggest battle looks to be in the World Hurdle. Big Buck's vs Grands Crus - the horse that's been there, done it, and smashed everything in his way against the newcomer that beat some top horses with worrying ease the last time we saw him and is an interesting prospect at 9/4 2f. Definately one that whets the appetite :D

Feel free to add your tips, bets and thoughts - I'll add my selections soon :)

1.30 - Cue Card (5/2f) - Won the bumper last year and has taken to hurdles like a natural. Fantastic speed on him and only lost out to Menorah (2nd favourite for the Champion Hurdle) back in December and should be too good for these. Also fancy an ew tickle on Zaidpour at 10/1. 4th

2.05 - Finians Rainbow (11/2) - Never lost over fences, won a Grade 2 event last time out and won it rather comfortably. If he takes the fight to the better horses he's going to be up there. 2nd

2.40 - Reve de Sivola (9/1) - His dodgy jumping might be a slight cause for concern but he might well love the longer trip than he's used to, big risk here but a quite fancy. 3rd

3.20 - Menorah (4/1) - Won the Supreme Novices' last year, and has won both his races this term - might need a slight improvement but has a great chance nonetheless. 5th

4.00 - L'Ami (10/1) - I picked this 2 years ago when he was 2nd to Garde Champetre but he could go one better today. Loves the track, loves the trip, loves the style of the race - great chance at 10/1.

4.40 - Quevega (11/10f) - Very classy horse in a field with only a few serious rivals, and he looks better than even those. Very short and I won't be backing, but should win handsomely.

5.20 - Nadiya de la Vega (22/1) - I don't honestly know much about this field and it looks very open, so lets punt for a bit of an outsider, one's bound to creep in somewhere!

I went E/W on Imperial Commander last year :D The Denman / KS frenzy was daft given it was more than a two horse race.

I don't bet big enough money to make it worth backing the favourites so have stuck my neck out E/W on Weird Al (20/1) and Pandorama @ (14/1) in the big 'un.

PS. I'm looking forward to the National too - third year on the trot I'm going and the atmosphere is electric

Cue Card's now 13/8, 7/4 in places. A mountain of money for him.

1st - Al Ferof 10/1
2nd - Spirit Son 11/2
3rd - Sprinter Sacre 10/1

Yep, superb ride. He's back alright. Doesn't bode well for Menorah later seeing Cue Card fail like that.

Crikey, look at these bets on Cue Card: £50000-£20000 £12500-£5000 £10000-£4000 £5000-£2000 (x6) £2500-£1000 (x2) £11250-£5000 £9000-£4000 (x5) £4500-£2000 (x6) £2250-£1000 (x5) £20000-£10000 £6000-£3000 £4000-£2000 (x2) £15000-£8000 (x2) £7500-£4000 (x6) £3750-£2000 (x4) £3500-£2000

Stakes on the right, winnings (or what would've been) on the left.

2.05 Result:

1st - Captain Chris (6/1)
2nd - Finians Rainbow (9/2)
3rd - Realt Dubh (8/1)

The horse that Captain Chris beat last time runs in the next (2.40) off a handicap mark of 133. Adams Island was well beaten by Captain Chris last time but will like the decent ground today. Decent EW price at 18-1.

Sunnyhillboy and Bensalem the dangers.

Have you backed it?

I actually had Wolf Moon in my placepot here, although that went down in the first race, Realt Dubh came 3rd in the 2nd for that one.

My dad's mate stood next to McCririck before the first race and yelled my dad's name and the name of a horse he'd backed repeatedly, it came 11th. :D

Yes, I've backed Adams Island. I did it even before Captain Chris won. May well start at a lower price.

Must have a chance off 133 though. Will possibly make the running.

Ah well, I lost money on Adams Island. Also backed Sunnyhillboy but also had a small bet on the winner at 13-2 as well! :)

I'm having a decent day so far.

Im cleaning up here, 3 winners out of 3. Had a cheeky e/w on Great Endeavour which fell at last, Bensalem saved me there.

Come on Kyber Kim my son for the Champion Hurdle :>

I'm with you with Khyber Kim ^187. Done him EW at decent antepost prices. Thousand Stars will like the conditions and may sneak a place at 25-1.
