It's that time of year again for us racing fans, 4 days of top-class jumps action and this one's as mouth-watering as any. Again, this year's Gold Cup features the two warriors Denman and Kauto Star, but last year Imperial Commander ruined the party by landing the spoils. However, this year for me the biggest battle looks to be in the World Hurdle. Big Buck's vs Grands Crus - the horse that's been there, done it, and smashed everything in his way against the newcomer that beat some top horses with worrying ease the last time we saw him and is an interesting prospect at 9/4 2f. Definately one that whets the appetite
Feel free to add your tips, bets and thoughts - I'll add my selections soon
1.30 - Cue Card (5/2f) - Won the bumper last year and has taken to hurdles like a natural. Fantastic speed on him and only lost out to Menorah (2nd favourite for the Champion Hurdle) back in December and should be too good for these. Also fancy an ew tickle on Zaidpour at 10/1. 4th
2.05 - Finians Rainbow (11/2) - Never lost over fences, won a Grade 2 event last time out and won it rather comfortably. If he takes the fight to the better horses he's going to be up there. 2nd
2.40 - Reve de Sivola (9/1) - His dodgy jumping might be a slight cause for concern but he might well love the longer trip than he's used to, big risk here but a quite fancy. 3rd
3.20 - Menorah (4/1) - Won the Supreme Novices' last year, and has won both his races this term - might need a slight improvement but has a great chance nonetheless. 5th
4.00 - L'Ami (10/1) - I picked this 2 years ago when he was 2nd to Garde Champetre but he could go one better today. Loves the track, loves the trip, loves the style of the race - great chance at 10/1.
4.40 - Quevega (11/10f) - Very classy horse in a field with only a few serious rivals, and he looks better than even those. Very short and I won't be backing, but should win handsomely.
5.20 - Nadiya de la Vega (22/1) - I don't honestly know much about this field and it looks very open, so lets punt for a bit of an outsider, one's bound to creep in somewhere!
