Dragon Age 2 - * Official *

Im amazed how well it runs on my pc maxed out with 4xaa,8xaf and high res graphics pack at 1920x1200.:) It ranges between 25 - 60fps, but I might turn 1 or 2 things down to get the min fps a little higher.

System is:
Intel [email protected]
HIS HD 6950 2GB(at stock speed)
8GB mem
Corsair 620watt psu

Nice, Ive dropped it to 2xaa and turned off "diffusion depth of field" and now my min fps is 30

What kinda play time are people at (complete and incomplete).

I'm around 15 hours now, trying to complete any quest I run into.

Got a friend that completed it in ~21 hours barely touching any side quests. I'm not sure why you'd rush through just doing the main quest, but as I spent more time on side quests in the first act than the main mission it doesn't worry me really.

I've got 13 hours on the clock, exploring every nook and cranny and doing all the quests I find, and it still feels like I've got tons to do.

My brother completed it yesterday, and i'm currently playing it atm and i kinda like it, apart from the occasional FPS drops.

In short, this appears to be a reaction towards a Bioware employee submitting a favourable review for the game on Metacritic without disclosure of his connection to the developer. The review has since been retracted, although you can find cache links to it in the Reddit thread linked above.

1.
Right off the bat, I notice there's something...off with the top user review (by 'Avanost'). It reads almost like a press release. I do not trust it:
"The immersion and combat of this game are unmatched! A truly moving and fun epic. Anything negative you'll see about this game is an overreaction of personal preference. For what it is, it is flawlessly executed and endlessly entertaining" (emphasis added).

2.
So I Google ‘Avanost’, because I’m starting to not trust this mother***. And a Plurk (WTF is Plurk) profile shows up (http://www.plurk.com/avanost), revealing a name.
So I Google the name, all the while cautioning myself that this could be a completely different Avanost, and not to jump to conclusions, and WHAT THE **** HE’S AN ENGINEER AT BIOWARE.

lol

Whats going on with the DLC situation with this game. Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that there is day one DLC for the game?

I have not even bought the game yet and these are showing up in my bioware social account  :D

  • The Far Cliffs of Kirkwall
  • Blood Dragon Armor
  • Of Things Not Lost
  • Lothering's Lament

I have been given them for free!

..... they must be roobish, right :P

In any case, i am looking forward to playing this game after i finish DA:O :)

I played the first one and loved every bit of it.

I've just completed the second one, took 43 hours. I loved it. Sure its not the same as DA 1 but its just as ENJOYABLE. I reccomend people complaining take the time to do one run through and then put any complaints out they have. I guarentee you wont be as ready as to complain.
I played the good role first time around and im left wanting to play it again as evil. For some reason the first DA did not leave me with the feeling of wanting to play it again straight through but I think thats because I had a stronger connection with one of the characters, morrigan and so I felt like the story had ended. DA2 is feels a lot more open at the end. Your connections to your companions are not as strong though, seems a let down there but the game is still worth playing.

I'm on a c2d [email protected]
ATI 4890

I ran it on max settings with the DX11 renderer (uses DX10 on non DX11 cards)
Vsync locked it was 60fps almost all the way through. I had fps drops on 5 odd scenes (dialogue, conversation) in the game where it would plumet to 15fps but I think this was buggy coding.
Im using an SSD, load times were around 30seconds max. 5-10s on average.

I encountered 2 bugs. One if I was playing the game for about 8 hours it would crash, no problem I quick save a lot.
Secondly my isabella romance quest bugged out, but no problem I used the console to to continue the quest. I got the ending for her romance but not the achievment...

I'll be playing DA2 through to completion (hopefully that switch'll flip at some point and I'll actually like it), even though so far it makes baby Jesus cry just as much as BF:BC2 could make a Nun rage.

well im enjoying, even if i havent got a clue what its all about, storywise

I think thats what they are aiming for. Mindless action. But im sure there are better games like this on the market? I dont really know i dont play games like that too much, maybe Darksiders? Looked quite good.

Even with all my moaning i will get the game but not for a long long time, proabably when its on gog.

*troll face*

If it was mindless action there would be no story. There is infact a story. Its dragonage, thats the point. It draws on events that took place in DA 1, even more so if you import your save.

If you want to understand the story a little better I would definately play the first one though. Some of the issues they talk about are extensions of occurences in the first one.

ROFLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOL AT THAT PICTURE OMGLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

:D:D:D

Unfortunately they blatantly forgot to resolve the 'This is the single worst video game ever released by Bioware' issue that everyone is complaining about. Everything that Neil posted above sums it up completely. This game is a POS.

where did that picture go? ):

I'm really liking the story, I'm not playing though just watching some guys walk through on youtube. CBA to play through it even though I have the game.

Glad I imported my saves from DA1 and the expansion, it's added a little extra to DA2 :)
