Desire HD battery conservations
Thought I'd share a few tips for keeping that last bit of juice. Some is common sense, and the other stuff I've picked up while reading this forum and xda developers forum.
First, here's some fundamental rules:
.
Never use a task killer - never ever ever, just don't do it.
.
Restart your phone once a day - if you've got leedroid, a hot restart is fine, otherwise just do a normal restart. This clears out your cache and gives you a 'fresh' start.
.
Accept that it's not like back in the day- when you used to get 5-6 days of life from a single charge. Realising that phones use a lot more power these days is fundamental, just remember this.
Here's some basic stuff that you can do:
Turn off any connections that you aren't using. I only have data connection, bluetooth etc on when I need it. I use airplane mode if I don't need any connections.
Turn screen brightness down, (or leave on auto). Remember, the DHD has a mahoosive screen, on full power it will drain your juice quicker than Jenna Jameson.
Don't have volume on max. This is an optional one, and won't really make that much difference unless you're receiving lots of texts/calls in a small space of time.
Download an app called current widget, this tells you the amount of current going through your battery. Your battery is only fully charged when this shows 0, however you'll find that the LED turns green long before this.
If you're rooted, after charging is complete (when current widget reads 0) then boot into clockword mod and wipe battery stats.
If you haven't rooted, then rooting and a custom Rom and Radio will undoubtedly improve your battery life.
Rooting also enables you to use SetCpu to overclock your phone. I've setup a profile on mine to reduce the cpu to 200mhz when the screen has turned off, 400mhz when battery is under 20%, and I have it downclocked to 900mhz for normal use. I noticed no difference when compared with 1.2ghz, but 1.5ghz was noticeably faster
