Hi, only reason i ask is i bought motherboard yesterday and received today but it is missing its io shield back plate.

my question is: is b-grade just a returned unwanted item or is it "parts missing so its cheap" item

what would you do ?

yeah thats what b grade is....items that have been returned and fixed or items with parts missing or unboxed etc etc etc....i bought a b grade 30" hazro monitor once and chickened out before they sent it...i wasnt willing to spend £750 and not know exactly what i was getting.....
you can still return it i think but you will lose the postage.....

clearance line stuff is usually just parts that they only have a few left off and are trying to clear them out

b-grade is often parts that have been returned under dsr and have been tested to be working. it's not uncommon for them to be missing the i/o plates, cables etc. b grade stuff also has a limited shop warranty, 3 months i think it may be. tho a mod may come in and confirm this

i would say ur right on what u asked and if it was only the back plate missing then not really a big deal

^ this is what i think too :)

sorry meant to say as to what to do, i'd just drop the manufacturer an email and see if they can send you one. or even send OcUK a webnote and see if they have any spares knocking about that they could let you have.

i'd be surprised if the board manufacturer couldn't supply an i/o plate unless the board is EOL. tho i don't know what kind of cost you'd be looking at

I would also love for this to be explained, I often see graphics cards in B grade, I'm too scared to buy incase they fail after 6 months, legally does manufacturers warranty still apply? Guarantee?

Do *B* grade monitors have dead pixels in them?!

O.o?

im not really worried about not having back plate, but would have been nice to know before hand. its for media pc so its gonna sit in place and not looked at from behind!

honesty is best policy!
stating in listing/clearance that a part is missing is better than saying " surprise we missed a part that you may actually need but we dont actually say this cos its to much hassle"

i'm sure i have seen somewhere on the site an explanation of b-grade/clearance lines-tho it may just have been here in the forums

i believe that your manufacturers warranty should still apply, no reason for it not to.

b-grade monitors could well have dead pixels, i'm sure many people return monitors under dsr because of dead pixels.

but like buying any monitor you'll alway run the risk of dead pixels.

if in doubt regarding the warranty on b-grade stuff drop OcUK a webnote or post in CS and i'm sure they'd be happy to answer that one for you :D

Tbh, as most of the stuff they have in B-grade they only have a few of, I'm sure you could drop them a webnote before purchase and they'll tell you why it's b-grade

Thanks everyone for input, about 3 days ago in *B* grade there was 10+ MSI GeForce GTX 460 Cyclone's, I was a so so close to purchasing but didn't know why there was 10+ instock, I assumed maybe they had a unusually high RMA rate so you were labeling them *B* to get rid of them. Cynical me :/

A decent £130 graphics card is still top on my list, in fact the only thing.

thats fair enough. like i said its not an important part so i can live without.
as long as board works ! i might even have a back plate that might fit if i go digging in my spares!!

It was actually a stock error at the time. :)

All fixed now though. If you have any enquiries just pop into the Customer Service section of the forums and I am more than happy to help.
