What gear next?

The 85mm f1.8 doesn't have good bokeh? News to me!

I'll get my coat :-)

But let me give you some context. As Jake knows, I use FAT glass: 85mm 1.2, 200mm f2.0, 800mm f5.6 and I am currently lusting after the 400mm f2.8. I could have taken your model with only one eye sharp, if the pose had warranted it.

I live in a world of dreamy bokeh and wafer thin DOF. I think that all of my lenses are out of Jake's reach but I'm expecting that the 135 would get him into my world within his budget.

That's what I was thinking. But I was probably talking rot as usual...

I'd go for the 70-200 also.

Not just because it's the best lens I've purchased, but because it covers a range that you don't currently seem to have covered, so will offer a new angle on things.

I'd say go with the 35L. I've yet to see a bad comment about that lens, and all photos I've seen make me want one :D It's a decent size for what you're planning on using it for too. Not that you need any more prodding in that direction as we all know you'll get that :P

Out of curiosity, are you deliberately limiting yourself to about £1000? If and when you get the 70-200, personally after pixel peeping my face off, I'd save the extra and get the new one :D

Yes mate, got a new place to sort out as well :)

I might, but I have to buy a new gfx card this month, and find accomodation by the Royal Albert hall, and pay for train tickets. BB King in June! Woo!

The 35L is a lot more versatile than one would expect. The more I use it, the more I love it.

You will get used to F-stops start with the number 1 very fast and think 2.8 is slow..........

Yea I understand, although that shot was at f2.5 purely so i didnt only have an eye in focus :D I find for headshot work f1.8 is quite often a bit narrow

Lovely light on No.1, were you using fill flash or a reflector of some kind?

Nope, natural light. no reflector, no flash, nothing, nada, zilch.

There was a 3/4 pages thread in TP where people didn't believe me and accuse me of lyng lol

Well it's been really well done, and a particularly good choice of location as it looks to have given you lovely soft shaded light mixed with a nice hard rim-light from the sun.
Looking at the image more closely, it does look like allot the the trees and shrubs etc are tall enough, to provide allot of shade all through the image which you don't see most of the time, but you can tell just see how hot the direct sun is, by the hotspot on the left. Also the vignette adds to the impression she was lit from a reflector or something, and you might also have been getting some fill from reflections off leaves etc.
