AMD HD6990 Vs Nvdia GTX 580 SLi/GTX 580

This definitely sways me to purchase a second 580 :(

Don't have the time to watch all the videos at work now but does the SLI 580s ever excess 700w?

And would a Corasir 850w do the job for SLI + 2500k @ 4.7ghz?

You might be pushing it tbh. Though if that ~700w is total system load then you'll be fine (I also don't have time to watch the videos in work).

And what those "resent" games can be?Oh,you talking about console ports..
There is no better way to testing vga's than in these videos - Crysis,Metro 2033,Heaven 2.5 - those are real heavyweight benches
Meh,seems Nv's 590 will be the winner in dual gpu market, but at what price?

The SLI 580's doesn't drop below 700watts in the AvP demo, but the power draw seems to max out at about 760watts.

Heavyweight is heavyweight & there are recent heavyweight games period.

And you have a gaping contradiction as it does not matter if its console ports or not because today's games are today's games & the majority will be playing today's games so show how good they are at today's games instead of games that few people play any more.

The future is whatever its going to be & if its console ports then they better be good at running them than good at running old rarely played games.

Your personal issue of it being console ports is irrelevant to the facts.

Negative scaling & stuttering & pauses with HD6990 Quad fire in Crysis benchmark when watching it in bigger format, I'm not surprised as it scaled badly with ATI 5xxx Quadfire for quite sometime until driver maturity.

Interesting comparisons, thanks for posting.

Really seems like the third 580 just doesn't really bring anything to the table. CrossfireX with 4 GPU's has always been dodgy with the scaling, but would be nice to see how the scaling is in something a bit more modern. Definitely going to get a second 580 down the line though, one is enough for now however! :D

All those games tested are known to scale badly with multi GPU & suffer serious diminish of returns the more you add.

Look at some more recent gaming on 580 multi GPU.
