Quiestest 600W+ PSU

Out of all the psu's ive owned over the years, enermax, thermaltake, seasonic and my current corsair hx 850, ive found the corsair to be the quietest, always stays very quiet even under heavy load, (oc'd cpu and two very power hungry oc'd gpu's), nephew has an hx 620w in one of his rigs and it is every bit as quiet as the 850.

Thanks all for your replies, that BeQuiet does seem to be quite popular.

This was what I initially thought, after seeing this site.

But I had another idea. I currently have a OCZ StealthXStream 600W PSU. Do you think I could buy a 120mm fan and stick that in the PSU to shut it up a bit?

It's out of warranty so I don't mind opening it up. :)

Internal PSU fans tend to be wired directly into the pcb. Another option is to take it out but put a standard case fan wired externally to a 3pin or molex.

I have a Seasonic X650.

The most wattage I was running was with a GTX 260 + GS 8400 on a i5 750. Even when playing games the Seasonics fan never spun, the PSU can get warm but i've never noticed it hot.

Also with the Seasonic I'm able to under volt more than previous PSU (OCZ 600), everything is under volted, CPU, chipset, memory. My CPU is currently at 1.16 volts (tiny 5% overclock i5 [email protected]) , I still have all the power regulation, and turbo on also, without these i'm sure I could get the voltage down more. Not only is it dead silent (for me), it has also excellent voltage regulation. Been running my rig like this for months, X650 is rock solid.

And to add. I'm running a Asus Essence ST sound card that takes it power from molex. I have one of the outputs dedicated to this card, and X650's voltage regulation can only be helping.

Have I mentioned I like the Seasonic X-650..

Is 600W you're power requirement? Only asking as a number of PSUs don't spin their fans up until the load gets beyond 50% (in effect, they are silent until pushed). Therefore if your rig needs "only" 400 watts then consider a 800 watt PSU.

Seasonic Gold series are good for this approach.

Not a Ocz stealth extreme my mates is going back because its to loud

this is my mates thread stay away from Ocz

I've been quite happy with it tbh, I've just been trying to do work on my computer lately and all I can hear is the PSU fan 'whoosing' all the time.

I'm not really sure how many watts my system draws.

Specs are: DS3R, Q6600 (GO), 8800gt, 4x1gb sticks RAM, 3 HDDs, TV card.

Can anybody tell me?

Never had a problem with noise on mine but was the money spender for was bequiets customer service, i got psu from here, after a year i wanted xfire and found out some how i was a cable short (pcie from new) ocuk would not help so went direct to bequiet....within 48 hours i had a reply saying please forward your address and we will send out any cables you need free of charge no cost of postage....OUTSTANDING IMO!

No decent PSU should make audible noise at low power so I'm not to eager to get semi fanless.
I'm in the market for one too. Atm in the top of my list are:
Fractal Design Newton R2 650W
and
Nesteq ASM X-Zero 600W Heat-piped Cooled Semi-Fanless PSU
Sadly not stocked here, nor received many reviews.
And the ripple/noise tests are very hard to go by/compare to each other since they are all done by different people.
