Obama wants to make copyright infringement a felony. That's the most severe crime in the US, you lose your right to vote, right to buy guns, people won't ever hire you, etc.

We "strongly support the white paper's call for Congress to clarify that criminal copyright infringement through unauthorized streaming, is a felony."

lol post a music video on youtube and lose your right to vote. Classic.

Also wants to make the Handbrake program (ipod/ipad video coverter) illegal.

Wouldn't the time and money be better spent chasing real criminal? ...

They are, didn't you know violating copyright puts you in the same bracket as carjackers and granny muggers ;)

I personally hate people that steal stuff and fail to reward people for their hard work.

Someone once asked me 'Do you copy games?'

I answered 'To be honest, I don't even shoplift'

He got really offended :/

A felony is typically punishable by at least a year in prison...less and it's a misdemeanour.

Other felonies: aggravated assault and/or battery, arson, burglary, illegal drug use/sales, grand theft, robbery, murder, rape, and vandalism.

Mmmmm k .

Does anyone else think Obama is just a far more charasmatic version of Brown, i.e. he hasn't got a bloody clue?

I'm no fan of people who blatantly pirate music, videos, etc. but criminalising them really isn't gonna help anyone... and ironically I've spent far more money on music, videos, etc. because of piracy and the exposure I've had to stuff I wouldn't have otherwise noticed than I'd have otherwise spent.

LOL charismatic is the wrong word, he's got bucketful of that. Even a dairy cow resting in a field has more of a clue than brown ever did.

Link to research that illustrates this please...

Well its fairly obvious you don't need research... its gonna push piracy further underground and towards more hardcore criminal elements, people are gonna get in trouble because they don't realise their kids/other are downloading content they shouldn't i.e. hijacked wifi and so on.
