Upgrade itch - worth going from a Phenom X4 945 to a Phenom X6 1090T?

As title. Thinking of doing so now as it seems my mobo won't be able to support the new Bulldozer chips.

Currently on this:

Also, if you wait until Bulldozer is released, the X6 Phenom IIs should drop in price a bit.

I had a 965, bought a 1090T at launch, lovely chip, but zero benefit for anything gaming wise, hence I sold it and went back to a 965.

I don't thinks its worthwhile.

For gaming you'll see a boost but only in games that support 6 cores. Civ 5 springs to mind.

You wouldn't see a performance increase, although some games run a bit better if they're optimised to use more than 4 cores which isn't very many games.

I personally would wait until Bulldozer comes out, the prices of existing Phenom II CPU's would most likely drop and Bulldozer might be good value for money so you could get a 8 core CPU

i doubt that, the 775 chips didnt really drop all that when the i3/i5/i7 came out did they?

guess it depends on how many have to shift

i think youll see a drop on 6 cores . unless bd isnt tht quick.

ill see how it fairs to whether i upgrade my p2 955 or not.
