just went to see it at local shop here and looks pretty good, was way thinner then i was expecting. It ticks all the boxes but my only concern about it is will it stream HD files? mainly 720p and some 1080p mkv's from my NAS drive.

i would have liked it to have dedicated gfx card, but how does the GMA X4500HD cope with HD? has it got hardware acceleration like the ion?

the price is £399 with 2 years warranty

is there anything better i could get for the price? i don't intend to game on it, just surf, emails, watch films, maybe a bit of office bit nothing too heavy.

many thanks!

I got myself an Acer Aspire 3935 for £349 the other day:

Intel Centrino C2D (P8600, 2.4Ghz, 3MB L2 cache, 1066 MHz FSB )
13.3" (Acer CineCrystal, 1366x768 HD, High Brightness, LED Backlit)
Windows Vista Home Premium Edition
4GB (DDR3 1066MHZ)
320GB HD
Intel® GMA X4500MHD
Wireless (WIFI LINK A,B,G,N Includes MIMO)
10/100/1000 Gigabit Fast Ethernet
Integrated Webcam
5-in-1 card reader (SD//MS/MS-Pro/MMC/xD-Picture card)
3x USB 2.0 ports
Bluetooth Version 2.0
Intergrated Stereo Speakers
VGA Port
Kensington Lock
12 Months Acer Collect & Return
Battery Life 3-4 Hours (up to 4 hours with power management)
This Model 1.89 Kg)
Finger Print Reader

No HDMI port (not important for me) and battery life isn't 8 hours (although its very respectable!). No Windows 7 either.

thanks mate, have you tested HD files on it? work ok?

il look into that laptop now :)

pricing something like this up for my partner, how well would games like the sims3 play on the acer?
Other choice would be Lenevo G565 with the "Dedicated (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 with 512MB Dedicated DDR3 RAM)" and much difference between the M42D6Uk and the M42D7UK?
