Asda's Easy cook basmati rice

What do you guys think of it, presuming you have tried it.

As good as the normal asda basmati that wasnt parboiled and hence easy cook type or not. Im not entirely sure. As im thining it smelled nicer the normal version.

Also do you think i should get one of them Badshah Basmati Rice 10kg packs as i hear their 10.99 from asda and i hear its nice but i duno.

Rice is rice imo, it all tastes the same when I cook it. Mind you I'm not the best cook in the world.

Compared to other rice I have used it never seemed to cook properly, but I ain't no expert. I guess I just didn't like it.

What rice do you like badcompany?

Tbh its nice imo i just wasnt sure if it tasted the same or not as the normal version rice and wondered if others could taste the difference between the easy cook and normal version of asdas basmati rice.

Also id love to hear from ppl who has tried Badshah Basmati Rice type as suposably its really nice but i aint tried it before.

There is a massive difference between the asda stuff and say Tilda or whatever the brand is. The latter is pure basmati, it's a lighter, finer fluffier, softer rice.

Go to an Indian or Oriental store and buy rice from there. They'll have lots of varieties and much cheaper as well.

I saw a packet of easy-cook rice.
When I cook rice, I boil water, and put rice in it.
Which of these have they managed to make easier?
Does the water boil itself, or does the rice jump into the water?

I guess the rice is pre steamed so some of the starch is removed, yeah.. that's about it.

Yes if you keep it in a cool/dry area / box.
I have a 25kg share with my 3 other house mates, last us about 6 months. We are orients, so it's our staple diet... and no, avoid quick cook rice, they are often hard and grid-like than the 'normal cook' rice. Be it for Basmati rice or Thailand Jasmine Fragrant rice.

think you would be better off asking a "decent" indian restaurant what they use, or phone up several and ask them, i cant remember what we use but its a lot more than £10 a bag, i think its nearer the £50 mark. thats from a wholesaler btw. so much more expensive for your average joe.

£50 for 10Kg? about 50p/portion seems pretty expensive for a restaurant :confused:

I'd have thought an indian restaurant would buy at least 25Kg bags
