That'd explain why he was being battered a mile from home!
Grands Crus is a superb
4/1 with bet365 currently, he's 9/4 elsewhere and 1/4 odds a place, so you'll get your money back if he's 2nd or 3rd. I'd say that is VERY good.
My picks:
1.30 - Noble Prince (5/1)- came 2nd to Realt Dubh which was placed on Tuesday behind Captain Chris which suggests he'll be good enough for this lot. Will like the slightly longer trip too.
2.05 - Rivage D'or (12/1) - I don't think he's run over this trip so it's a bit of an unknown quantity but he's consistent enough to challenge for a place here, although he doesn't like sticking his head in front.
2.40 - Poquelin (11/4) - Looks far too good for this field, some very inconsistent types, especially Alberta's Run which won here last year (after I backed him in 2009, swine) and is a class above these. Should be about 15/8 imo.
3.20 - Grands Crus (4/1) - I'm not expecting him to beat the best hurdler around in Big Buck's but after his seriously classy win here we know he's going to power up that hill. Big Buck's had a strong challenge from Time For Rupert last year and won by a length after cruising up but it didn't honestly look like he would have as much speed and strength as Grands Crus if they were level 2 out. Risky but surely a safe each-way.
4.00 - Peplum (33/1) - Big price on this one, beat Holmwood Legend (25/1, same race) last weekend. Slightly longer than he's used to but solid place shout here. About time we had a shock winner.
4.40 - Junior (5/1f) - A name I'll never forget in racing, as once he was backed from 40/1 into 11/2 and won handsomely. One of the biggest gambles I've ever seen landed. He's got to be in the mood for it, but if he is he's got a very strong chance.
The 5.15 is a charity derby, but odds are available on it. However, I won't be touching it.
Good luck
