TSO Down?

Those with hosted email, why not switch to Google Apps?
Your website remains hosted at tso/vida etc but your email service switches to google, offering extras as well.

New update @ http://status.tsohost.co.uk/?p=62 - apparently everything should be back within the next 10 mins. I really hope so

Why is everyone flapping? Poop happens unfortunately. It is not as if Vidahost and TSOHost are down often.

It seems as though this is something out of their control unfortunately.

Unless you're running your own mail server (even if you are), Google Apps framework for mail is pretty good.

Google apps has had issues within the last 12 months too.

Some companies cannot use Google apps for data protection and privacy issues etc.

There's a rumour floating around that the DC is running on generators, hopefully that isn't the case otherwise it'll be a long day

Twitter, so it could be cr*p. Apparently it was a UPS failure causing the fire alarms to activate, in turn tripping the power and the DC is now running on generators until the UPS's can be checked over.

ditto... it sounds like they are doing bloomin well in the circumstances I know I trust them to get it sorted more than 99% of other hosts

The datacenter should be able to run on the generator for a long time as long as they have a fuel supply.

It is the switch over back to the UPS you want to worry about.

Hopefully they will do that during the night... At least that way we can be peacefully unaware (except the 100 SMS I will get from pingdom - nothing like a wakeup call than a "XXX.com is down".)

I don't know about blue square, but most say they carry fuel for 2 weeks? Is this BS?

Tso + Vida use the same supplier, I can assure you everything is being done and it's just a matter of how individaul servers are behaving. This is a true nightmare scenario but shouldn't last much longer.
