What do you do for a living?

I am a business analyst for a group that makes relocatable buildings. I do performance reporting for about 15 businesses, trend analysis, budget work and ad hoc slice and dice style analytical work.

I am also a freelance writer, mainly advertising or web copy, with some press release type stuff thrown in.

Father of a three year old too, that's a job in itself :D

i look after the creation i made called "the internet" and spend many hours looking through it to make sure it is working fine.

haven't had many problems so far but there is weird stuff on there now :)

keeps me in a job at the end of the day.

Isn't it funny how the thread title read - "What do you do for a living?" Yet most peeps read it as - "What is your job title?"

In my experience what someone's job title is usually tells one very little and very often means very little too.

Ok then, challenge accepted!

I design the various internal and external IVRs that are used throughout the business.

I pull detailed analysis from the reporting data, showing usage, trends, and the like. Eg. Just now I did a comparison of the usage of a new IVR that went live yesterday against what was forecast when I did a 500 call sample analysis a few months ago. My forecasts are all within a 3% margin, which is pretty good going!

I designed a call routing system that allows us to route customers to specific departments based on various factors, such as having an open complaint with us.

I set up a new email queue and auto-response for a new requests that customers can make through our website.

etc etc

999 connecting operator. Not really much to explain as its kind of straight forward :p
I am also an online trainer but as i work nights, 4 on 4 off, i don't train new starters just refresh train people.

I work on the Underground.

The last few years have seen the job deteriorate immensely. I used to supervise a team of three, do a few hours per day selling tickets and generally keep myself busy. Now, since the swingeing cuts to ticket office staff and opening hours, I'm pretty much a walking customer complaints department.

Sigh - 47 years old and 27 years on the tube. How bloody stupid am I?

I did 3 years and left about a month ago, very happy as it is now. Best of luck.

Currently I'm a man of leisure but have a promising interview next week.
