Hi folks,

Just putting together my new system, got everything sorted and stress tested etc, but the H70 pump makes a recurring rattling noise - sounding much like a cable vibrating on a case fan. That is basically the only noise from my system. It isn't loud at all, but it can be heard with the case fully sealed in idle. In full load the GFX obviously start to make noise so it drowns out the pump rattle.

It's a brand new build, so might this be a teething issue or one that will recur be prelude to device failure?

The device is reporting around 1400RPM in BIOS, so I believe that is OK. But as for the noise... ?

Specs:

i7 2600K (no OC yet)
8GB Corsair RAM
Corsair 700D Case
3 x 120GB SSD
3 x Viper fans
1000W Corsair PSU
2 x 6970 GFX
Corsair H70 Cooler

I've made a short vid with my iPhone of the noise - http://img37.imageshack.us/i/9pco.mp4/

The iPhone picked it up very easily, but PC volume might need to up loud as the *.mov is quite quiet.

No, but there is a rubber anti-vibration seal around the case -> rad/fan connection. I have attempted it both on and off, and the noise persists.

It is 100% coming from the pump/coldplate.

My pump power connector has been connected to the PWR_FAN header on the motherboard and i've just attempted it with a red/black MOLEX extension 3pin, and the issue still persists.

:(

Did you tip/jiggle the pump so any air bubbles from the pump would enter the radiator? when I first ran mine I never got any trapped gurgling sounds/ratting whatever you want to call it. Apparently from some forums it's a common issue... some it sorted itself. Others it did not.

I thought they didn't do that because there full to the brim. I know custom ones do mine did it for days.

Unfortunately it seems to be a common issue with a few people on the Corsair forums and several other IT/Computer forums who've purchased recently from various suppliers. This might represent a batch fault perhaps?

I'm erring on the safe side and swapping to a Noctua NH-D14 with a pair of Vipers :)

So did I but when I first got mine you could hear the water slap about. It doesn't sound a lot but it's enough. Which was just as well I read quite a few forums regarding the pump to make sure to tip it low so the air would rise into the radiator before I first powered it up.

The same reason why I put the tubes at the bottom as it only makes sense to have it deep in the water. Rather than making it harder with them at the top like so many people seem to do.
