I think the fact that several of the other arab nations agreed and offered military support for the UN action really tipped the Libyan position in this.... It's amazing how much better this sort of thing is when the governments involved go through the proper channels rather than ignoring them, their own legal advice and make backdoor deals to have their wars...

What sam's do libya have in its arsenal? I think thats the biggest threat to the planes rather than the airforce as i see man libya pilots flying to malta if they have to face the raf/usaf

hmm I reckon old gadaf is calling the UN's bluff, he knows we wont invade at the moment but he can retain what power he does have right now with a cease fire, he is safe from us forcing him out as long as he can hold what he has with just "policing" rather than using the military

Think Gadaffi had run out of options, he was hoping the resolution would fail to go through or that Russia or China would veto instead of abstain, and as above the other arab nations are offering support,

He talks a good game but when put to the sword hes crapped out,

Wait to see what happens if rebels try to take back the likes of Ras Lanuf, does Gadaffis forces defend it or just walk away?

I don't think Gaddafi was scared of a no fly zone. I think the part of the resolution preventing his "regime" from accessing funds is what scared him most.

He has nothing to fight with really, as above he will be hoping everyone backs down this is all swept under the carpet and he can stay in power, question now is how to you get him out of power without going on land.

The rebels have been "finding" weapons that the Egyptians have accidentally "misplaced" near the border for some weeks.

Long may that continue.
